Do you still love pool?

My dad would not buy a table for us because he said only bums, lowlifes and hustlers played in pool halls. I kept telling him rich folks don't go to pool halls because they had their own table. Needless to say he never bought one until I moved out.

I have been in love with the game for 30+ years and try to play everyday. I am WAY better at golf, but if I had to choose between the two I would go with pool.

No matter how crappy or less crappy I play I have ALWAYS found shooting entertaining and relaxing. Plus you can't beat the friends I've made through the game.

I have always, and continue to, love the game. I don't travel to a lot of pro events, I don't get all excited about this cue or that tip, I don't worry about whether SVB uses milk dud tips, or whether Earl has his chin over the cue.

What I do enjoy is actually going to the pool room and competing. When I'm at the table, I'm in a different world. And I enjoy teaching the game to others. I love seeing someone learn something that will help them become a better player. Because the better players become, the more likely they will continue to enjoy the game.

There is a lot of nonsense that falls into the catagory of "pool related". But the ultimate pleasure for me is when I have a cue stick in my hand, and a green (or blue) table in front of me!

I can't say "I Love Pool" ... I do love my family, close friends, and my pets ...

As for Pool, it brings me Pleasure, in varying degrees (dependant on how well I'm playing), and I hope I can continue experiencing such Pleasure for several years to come ...

i almost did. at one point i had so much going on that i almost forgot how much i enjoyed playing.

after things settled down i got back into playing again.
 
Really enjoy the game

I played briefly in junior high (would sneak down on my Yamaha 60) to the local den of iniquety under threats of beatings and in high school would drop by when I could. I always worked and never received any good training, instruction or pointers as in the old school you received training by being pummeled by the wolves. In my mid twenties I realized my love for the game but made an economic decision that I couldn't put in the necessary time to learn and become better so I put my efforts into other fields that have paid off finiancially. Over the last six years I have been able to dedicate the time (if I practiced I might improve quicker, however; my practice involves action) and have improved and even though I am an old guy my enthuseiasim for the game is still burning. Access to information, internet, books, etc. has helped. I love it.
 
I have to say, it's very hard for me to play just to play. If there's no action, I'd rather give up something stupid and try to outrun the nuts to keep me in stroke. Otherwise, I'll just drink. I go through these phases.
 
I love it, when I'm not hating it!

Actually, what I hate most about it is what it does to people's egos. It seems to be used as a tool to prove how one person is somehow above another, instead of as a game for enjoyment. I myself have been one of those who let my ego get inflated (or deflated) based on play, and I will always work on that. If I could just play for the fun, and the battle, and leave out the ego side of it..... there's no doubt that I would get more enjoyment from it.

I've slowed down a little. Last year I was on 7 different league teams on 2 continents.

This year I'm on 4 different teams on 2 continents.

But I still love the game.
