This is an awesome idea, I usually use napkins. I wipe down the whole cue after playing, most everyone at my room think im pretty anal...

I wipe my tips off on the carpet. In my own home and at any place else I happen to be. I don't have a problem with it in my home, I vacuum once a month. If I was at someone's home I would not do it, but would use a napkin.

Do you spit and piss on the carpet too ? JK :D (i had to say it)

Do you wipe yout tip off before putting it back in you case? If so, what do you use?

Absolutely not.

Why would you want to wipe chalk off a tip and burnish it when during play, your trying to get it to hold chalk? Seems counter productive to me.

Pay attention Moori tip users. :D :D

Every time without fail. Paper Towel. Although it seems customary to use the carpet in some places I just won't do that.

Me too as well.

Always use a napkin to wipe off the tip and I carry a cloth to wipe off the cue.

If I'm playing someplace that has tan in their carpet design I use the carpet :o otherwise I use a napkin ;)

I just unscrew my tip and put it in a little baggie. :D
Anybody looking for a game?:o

Well, not everybody can afford those expensive cues with the screw on tips, so don't rub it in.

I bet you drink that high class wine with the screw on tops too!!:D :D

Never had a problem in 20 years. The point is to make your tip slick and clean before putting it in your case.

Have you ever been to a place where they cover the tables after closing? It makes a lot of difference in the condition of the cloth as the cigarette smoke falls down during the night onto whatever, including the carpet. Most places don't bother, but it does matter to the cloth's condition and thus the playing conditions, imho.

I don't want that smoke grease (or whatever) on my tip. My tip is the most important part of my equipment and I'd just as soon not create any problems for it by rubbing it on [potentially]greasy stuff.

I miscue enough without addtional help.

OK?

not AR !!!!!!!

no I don't wipe my tip off:
on a rug, on a bug
in a car at the bar
in my ear with some beer

I do not wipe my tip off that is clear
why speed up to a red light?
chalks free is how the expression goes
wiping my tip off..... that just blows

:D :D

Does whiping the chalk off have something to do with a tip "Glazing"?

I hate chalk in my case so I always whipe off my tip, but I also find that my tip will get a hard shiny layer that must be scuffed off, and this intern shortens the life of the tip. Whats the solution?

Tips

No, never have, and probably never will. My shafts go in tip down always.
I think clearing your tip on the owner's carpet is not very good manners.

A Suggestion: If you are so concerned about it, buy a sponge, 1/2 to 3/4" thick, cut out circles just slightly smaller than your tubes, and insert them to the bottom of the tube. Then after you put your shafts into your case, tips down, simply push a little and twist, and the chalk will go into the sponge.

A wire coat hanger straightened out can be used to settle the sponge into the bottom of the tubes and to lay flat.
