Does anybody still use Triangle chalk

I have used Triangle chalk for a few years and really like it. I had in the last year used Predator chalk which I also really like but don’t care for the octagon shape. But to tell you the truth I don’t see much difference between Triangle and Predator chalk. They seem very similar to me. It seems they both stick a little better and grab the ball just a bit better in my opinion. Less chalk dust also compared to Masters.
 
I used it, found it worked well, thought it (Triangle) was more gritty then Master.

Many places still sell Triangle, so there must be demand for it.

I've had the opposite experience with Predator chalk. I'm not all that vested into what chalk I'm using (I have a Master's and Taom on my home table rails right now) - and I've found Predator chalk to be so messy that it's not worth the trouble. The Taom is excellent and last forever. Masters is as good for the price as anything. I will get another Taom when it's time, but there's nothing wrong with good ol' Masters IMO. Can't say there's anything about Triangle chalk that would make use it over Masters.
 
Green Triangle the most common chalk here in Ireland for both snooker and English pool players. Master is rarely, if at all, seen being used. I use Master on my break cue because I find it a little pastier than Triangle, but I use Taom 2.0 on my playing cue.

I have no complaints about green Triangle, though. Gets the job done. Blue Triangle, on the other hand, is messy as hell from what I've used. Cue ball ends up looking like a Smurf.
 
A bit off topic here. I like Blue Diamond but have a box of Masters always available. But 14 years ago I was given a package of Silver Cup.

With two tables in my basement I've been putting out the Silver Cup in the hope that visiting friends would borrow/steal some on a pool night. 14 freakin' years and can't get rid of it. I need lower class friends.
 
I have a slight preference for Triangle over Master. I have noticed Ronnie most often used Triangle but have seen him use Master as well.
I started using Triangle back in the 80s, the 211 in Seattle put it out exclusively. My experience is that it is easier to get an even thin coat with Triangle.

I use SIlver Cup:LOL: Came w/ the table & works fine.
 
I've used Master chalk for as long as I can remember (but see below) and I like it fine. All the pool rooms I play in furnish Masters blue chalk. I can't remember the last time I miscued. I try to chalk up before every shot.
I tried a bunch of fancy chalks when they first came out and the only advantage I found was that you didn't have to chalk up before every shot. This messed me up because I was either chalking up before every shot anyway and overloading my tip with chalk, or chalking up only occasionally and worrying when the chalk on the tip would wear off and I'd miscue.

And I always looked down on Silver Cup as being the chalk for pool rooms that were too cheap to use Masters, but the last time I got my home table recovered (in Simonis green) my pool table guys told me it would be better to use green chalk than blue and gave me 24 cubes of Silver Cup green chalk, I've been using that ever since at home and like it just fine too.

Snooker players like Ronnie O'Sullivan and Judd Trump use Triangle chalk. Many others have switched to Taom though.

Ronnie tends to flip-flop between Triangle and Master, from what I've seen. But Triangle's definitely the chalk of choice for professionals and amateurs across the UK and Ireland.
 
I think the chalk thing is overrated. Over the past 40 some odd years I've,, well....
I've done many of the gourmet designer products. In the end I think there's no advantage to spending that kind of money for a player of my ability or less. Maybe when you get into the Pro Level, the extra whatever may help. Maybe for Ultra Max spin. How often is that required in pool? how straight is your stroke?

What happened to Club Chalk? My 70's and 80's favorite.

BTW for those that don't know. Masters and Triangle ship from the same building.
Doesn't mean their the same stuff, but does mean the same folks.

I think Triangle is more gritty, or abrasive then Master.
