Does anyone else know the story?

In one of the pics the shaft looks like it has a nylon insert. Is there a such thing as vintage meucci or is that the equivalent of a meucci original? The meucci part looks like a worn sticker. Interesting find

Just doesn't add up to me, but that doesn't mean anything. Send the pics to Meucci via email and ask them if it looks right.

its not actually a meucci.

if it has a nylon shaft insert, it's probably a julio stambolini/adams. looks like an adams rubber bumper too.

it looks like a piece of crap regardless of who made it.

spill the beans, jay.

Ok Ok,..I had one of these, and talked to Bob Meuccie's doughter about it in an attempt to I.D. it. What she told me, was that when Paul Huebler fist went out on his own, he had a lot of trouble selling cues. so he printed up these labels, (Meucci never used labels) and tried to sell them as meuccis. she said they actually had to take it to court to get him to stop! its a meubler.

According to the listing "It rolls straight no curves in the stick." confirms it has to be a Huebler, So you're right, it is the Huecci model of Huebler.

A few years back I had a Hoppe style cue with a Meucci label and the letters "QB", which I thought was a model MO-5. I contacted the Meucci repair department to confirm before selling the cue and they told me the story of Huebler's use of the Meucci label and going to court to stop it.. I think Mr. Meucci was just trying to help Mr. Huebler get started by allowing the use of the Muecci label but then Mr. Huebler also added the "QB" which supposedly stood for "Quality Built". MY guess is the "QB" is what started the trouble.... if Mr. Huebler's Meucci was "quality built" then what was Bob's?

I had a very brief telephone conversation with Mr. Huebler on the same day as I talked with the Meucci people and he denied ever using the Muecci label. It was obviously a sore subject.

Jay,

I believe your experience but what doesn't make sense is Meucci didn't use that particular logo until the late 1980's or early 1990's - by then Huebler had made many cues. He started before Meucci cues in 1975. Bob Meucci had BMC cues in the l1960's, then headed up National's cue operation, the he worked for Huebler for a while when Paul was starting out. They did use stickers on the cues and the first line was very simple.

There was bad blood and Meucci left to form Meucci Originals (taking the name from Paradise.

Its interesting for sure. The cue I had, and from the looks of it, this one was definitly made before meucci started using it on his cues. I suppose he may have thought up the newer logo style long before implementing it?
I also had the same conversation with Paul Huebler the same day I talked to Bobs doughter. He was NOT friendly about it.

It makes you wonder if Bob came up with that logo while working for Paul, and if Paul used it for awhile or at least sold the cues that Bob used it on. There must be some explanation.

Chris

You can't make me believe it's a Meucci. If it is, it still isn't worth $50. Have you looked closely at it? With Real plain ones at around a buck, I'd buy a real Original. But, I'm not a Meucci fan, anyway.

i dont normally post and/or comment.....but
from random info and what not ive picked up along the way i thought that bob started out in chicago. i know a guy that claimed to finish cues for bob in the late 70s. he told me that bob was not a good trustworthy guy. supposedly meucci left town last minute to head east. i wouldnt buy either but just gave 2 cents
