Does anyone know what happend to the Kid Delicious Movie?

I don't know him was he really that good?

The only time I saw him play he would take 10 minutes to shoot every shot I couldn't take anymore.

come on now...BE NICE!

Danny is one of the nicest and most friendly guys on planet earth. And yeah he's big but the "eating" jokes are old and tired. and to the previous poster.... YES he is that good, he just isn't as active in the scene anymore. I think his health problems slowed him down a bit. I know his pre-shot routine(s) are a bit tedious but so are alot of other top players.

Thanks I hear these stories and when I hear someone say pros won't gamble with me I wonder. All the Minnesota Fats stories kind of put you on guard.

Kid Delicious movie

The author (L. Jon Wertheim) has taken on other projects, most recently a book on the epic Federer/Nadal Wimbledon match of '08. And his collaboration with Basavich really wasn't much of movie material ("I went here and won this, then I went there and won that"). I wouldn't look for it anytime soon. GF

The film rights are still owned by Lionsgate (where its been since 2005). Typical film rights run for 10 years and this is really not in the company's wheelhouse (unless they find a way to turn it into a slasher flick or a Tyler Perry dramedy), so I'd guess its going to sit on the shelf for a while. The only way this is getting made is if there's a resurgence in popularity for pool, especially considering the fact that Danny has pretty much fallen into obscurity.

Danny Fan

The book was super. The movie seems iffy. I never met him but I am a total Danny fan. Saw him on You Tube and this guy could charm the paint off a garage. Natural skill, natural hustle. Some ups and downs but I wish him well.

Bump, any word on this. He's a real charmer, especially considering all he has struggled with to get where he is. Like many pool players, he probably just isn't set up for a 25 year high level career. Too bad as he is a real role model for sooooo many kids who struggle in their middle/high school years.

A couple of Danny stories. I was playing in a local tournament and they had a calcutta. It wasn't a big tournament $25 entry 300 added on the big tables. There were a couple of players from out of town playing. One of the players was named Martin Basavich on the sheet. I had never seen Danny in person before but knew it was him. So, I started bidding on him in the calcutta. The problem was that the owner recognized him also and had much deeper pockets. Danny ended up winning the tournament but a buddy of mine put him in the losers bracket. It was only a short race to 5. But he played very well. He didn't play as slow and was actually in very good shape at this time.

A year later, the owner of the poolroom opened up another one in the other part of town. The owner is a known gambler that likes to play and will bet pretty high. Danny comes into town with Chris Bartram. They matched up with the owner and another good local player giving a bunch of weight. The 6 and last 4 and the break on a bar table. It was a tight match but they ended up with the money. This is in the book. Danny was a great player and personality. I'm sorry to hear that he is having health issues. I hope that he can turn it around. He is still relatively young.

Never met Danny. Only read the book, which was a great read. I wish him and "Bristol Bob" well.

The book sure showed the downsides of being a road player.

The book was great and he is a great guy. He played in the Joss event at Turning Stone this past December. The match I seen him play he didn't win but you could tell by the stroke, he is a player. I hope to see him play some more because I believe he still has it.

Brian, AKA Kickin Chicken is a good friend of Dannys. He will most likely be along and tell you guys a couple of stories.

I loved the book and wish Danny the best, whatever he may be up to right now.
