Does it bug you that most of the pro players websites are hardly ever updated? I just went and deleted all of them on my computer. It's not worth my time to check them for updates. Why have them if your not going to update them? To sell products? Johnnyt

It comes down to the fact that most of the pros of any real skill have been playing pool since they were 12-13 years old, and some even younger. That doesn't leave a lot of time to be tech-savvy. The ones who do make a living at the game have to take it seriously enough that when they have some spare time, they probably don't want to spend another hour a day promoting themselves.

Some players, likl Jeanette Lee, "get it". She understands the need for self promotion, so she takes the time to be active online. That's why I would go so far to guess that she makes MUCH more money than Allison Fisher, despite not having near as many titles.

Besides, with the male pros, they've also spent their entire lives looking out for numero Uno, and it's hard to think of the fans with that kind of mindset. This short-sightedness is what keeps most of our male pros broke as a joke. You have to build a LARGE fanbase in order to make money in the industry without winning tournaments.

Speaking of, someone needs to tell Efren that he needs to come out with a clothing line. That man is sitting on a freaking goldmine, and doesn't know it. He has SO MANY fans worldwide, and is not selling a product. Jeesssshhh!

I mean... I'm kinda thinking that the number of people who want to dress like Efren Reyes might be smaller than you think.

Really? You don't think Efren wearing Freddy's "Bank on, Brother" T-Shirt at the DCC improved Freddy's sales? :D

Granted, Efren would have to have some NICE stuff made if anyone's gonna buy it, but if it IS nice, then it'll sell a heckuva lot more if Efren's wearing it!

I agree with you 100 percent! Efren could put all the other plays who sponsor products to shame if he promoted better known products and started his own line of stuff. He could feed all of Manila!

Yup.. When you think about it.. He is such a likeable champion, people will pay more for a good product if it is associated with him, just because they'd like to see him make a bit more money for bringing so much enjoyment to the game.

I'd pay for a Sir Joseph glove +$3.00 if the $3.00 went to Efren.. Reyes endorsed Master's chalk? +$2.00, not a problem.

+$3.00 Q-Slick papers, with Efren's face on it, sure.. Why not..

Shaft towel with an embroidered sinature of Efren Reyes on it for $10.00? I'd do that, just because I like Efren.

And I am far from one of those people that swoons over celebrities. I'd just like to see Efren make as much money as he possibly can. Become stinking filthy rich, if he can. Actually, he IS, by Phillipine standards. MORE money never hurts, tho.

We're talking more than endorsements, here.. We all know he has a few deals out there with American companies. I am talking signature lines or branded products that have his name on them, and the manufacturers can just bump the price a few dollars for the branded line.

No other pool player has been as iconic since Willie Mosconi. I think in general, the general pool playing populace has more discretionary income than in Mosconi's day, evidenced by the ability for multiple companies to sell $500.00 + production cues..

Imagine this..... A black T-Shirt with white letters that said:

"What would Efren do?"

OMG, I am drooling when I think how well that T-Shirt would sell amongst the mid-tier players. Of course, the pros probably wouldn't be too crazy about it..:D

How about this T-Shirt?

Front: "I used to spot Efren the 5.."

Back: What? I didn't say I liked it!"

LMAO! Really! I was thinking the same thing ... Good one, Steve! :)

Oh, I don't know

I still see that Burgundy, Gray, Black, and White checkered shirt that he had on when he won his first tournament here in the USA.

How about a shirt that said, 'Efren's Magic coming round'. Efren has always reminded me of Charles Bronson ... lol I call him Lil Charlie.
