Is there another Efren, one on the way? I don't see IT. Allot of winners like Wu, Yang, Busta, Archer, Hall, Varner, Sigel, Rempe, Souquet, Ortmann, Sullivan, Chang have risen, but I don't see the overall player, like Eddie Taylor and a small handful of players from the depression era, yet to step into this arena. Earl in 9-ball is the only 'other' Dominant, but this is only in one game. I wish our sport had a Tiger Woods, but the format and the game we play now don't allow this to happen.

the standard is just too high amongst too many players for there to likely be a dominant player nowadays. although svb does seem to be the one, if anyone, to be most likely to dominate.

I don't think there is anyone on the up and coming who will comand the repect of his peers like Efren did.
I remember in Chicago when Dfren was playing, Sigel, Hopkins, Buddy, Davenport, all of them were sitting in front row watching him play 1-pocket and just in total awe of the guy while Efren looked to do everything with little effort at all. He seemed to be on another planet. They all sat there pretty quiet and often, just shaking their heads.
For a couple of years at the DCC he played one pocket so well that few could even muster the heart to challenge him. He again seemed just unstopable and may have been the best one pocket played in the past half entury.
Like you, I just don't see anyone coming down the pike to dominate like he did or hold the respect of his peers. It very well may take a while, but, someday somewhere it will surely happen.

If it does happen, I predict it'll come from the 'trenchs of sports addiction' not from a parent setting a goal/path for their child. I just don't see a player setting a goal and realistically achieving this plane of thought/skill that effie' did from a path that seemed to be prechosen for him, he didn't see it coming, thats for sure.
I think we the players and the pooltable cross paths...one wins, 90.% of the time its the table, but once in millenium (or 2 or 3) someone can tell the balls what to do.
