dominiak cues

I've seen a few and played with one. The play was good, the looks weren't my cup, but the price I was told was very attractive. If you see one you like I bet you'll like it.

Couple Guys Here In Ny Have Them And Really Like Them. As For Me, Did Not Like The Feel Of The Cue Or The Hit A Few Like Em Alot. Have To Say The Cues Look Great And Never Heard Of Any Problems With Them.
 
They used to sell shafts, whatever happened to that?
As far as cues...most prefer cues with zero spray paint included.
 
They use to be a major parts supplier to cuemakers as well as William Dominiak ( the father made cues) Like all cues, they didn't all feel or play the same. I have played with a couple that I really liked and have hit a few I didn't care for at all. One thing was consistent, pricing was always low on his cues. Designs weren't always the most attractive but some were nice. The last I heard William was going to do the parts business and his son was going to make cues. The next thing I knew there was no site or anything left. There is one cue on Billiards Warehouse site for sale for something like $299. It's a plain jane and the only one Greg has left. He use to carry a lot of Domininaks cues.
 
i own a plane jane and i love that cue. For me it hits just great, love the style and all around goodness. i fell in love with the cue when my buddy bought it. Well i was lucky enough to buy it off my buddy for a sleek 100. mint condition. For the price i think it's one of the best cues i ever own. I will never sell that cue...ever!
 
Bill has decided to dedicate most of his energy to cue making for now.
I have owned several and liked them all.
He is very excited about his new cues and since I am from the same area he asked me to stop up and see what he's making.
I intend to stop up there this coming week.

Thanks. His site had been down a long time. I didn't realize he had a new one. I think if you try one of his cues, you won't be disapointed. Especially for the money.
 
Dominiak Qs

Hi Guys

I have 3 of the Dominiak Qs and love each one. All have a very solid hit and just plain "feel good" in your hands.

My favorite is the only 1 of a kind that they ever made. :cool: I personally spoke to Bill about this Q and he remembered it right away and said they will never make another. I don't remember the model # but it is one of those with the 32 diamond/triangle inlays. The forearm and butt is ebony w/snakewood inlays. The handle is snakewood with ebony inlays. If u search my past posts u can find some pics. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=30726&highlight=dominiak Zim from Zim's Rack was the original buyer. I fell in love as soon as I saw the pics he posted of it here on AZ, and started to hunt for the owner. It is a beauty and after many dead ends, took me 2 years to track down the then current owner and make the purchase.

The second has the same design but has a curly maple forearm and butt with ebony inlays. The handle is ebony with curly maple inlays. The curly maple is very pronounced and highly detailed.

The third is one of the 8 piece radial spliced designs from the butt cap to the joint and is made of maple and purple heart.

I'm always looking for more of his older design Qs if anyone has any for sale. ;)

Ive had two and they both looked and played great- He makes a lot of light wood, no wrap cues which i prefer.. If he is at VF this year i may pick up another.

If I remember right these cues are laminated from the tip to the butt cap. I played with one at Bob and Eydie's tournament a few year's ago and really thought it had allot of spine. I thought it was a very versatile type of cue. They break well, play well and I even shot some pretty nice shot's for the people there. Back then I was really into force follow and I could break a cue into splinter's in just a few stroke's. I used it for a few hours and never got a tunning fork noise. It passed the endurance test and very few cues can live through an hour of force follow and masse shot's. They way I shot them...

i picked one up at valley forge a couple three years ago... let my friend use it and havn't seen since. I remember I changed the tip to a talisman or some other harder layered when i was at vf ...and the cue played better/well.

I think that it comes down to the fact that they do it all. They have their own lumber mill. They can buy bulk, cut it, choose the best pieces, season it, and make their own cues. They do it all. ;) No middle men to take a big chunk of the $$. Other Q makers have to pay extra for all of those steps, and that really raises the cost. Each of those middle men have to make a living. I own 3 Dominiaks :) and each feel great, solid, and hit a ton. Much of their business is selling shafts and other wood stocks to other cue makers who must pay them for the above mentioned work.
