Has anybody heard from Don lately? How is he doing? A friend gave me this homework assignment. He wanted me to find out how Don is and where he's been lately. I couldn't think of a better place to get quick info than AZ Billiards. Don , a very solid player by anybody's standards played around the Chicago area for many years and being friends of his we just wondered what he's up to. Thank you in advance! Philw

The last I heard from him, he was in Daytona Beach. I think he said that the retirement community he was in had 60 pool tables. I see one Feeney in Daytona Beach, but not Don, and a bunch of Don Feeney's elsewhere in Florida.

Don plays all the games well -- snooker, pool and carom.

I had the pleasure of playing some 1P and other multi-player games with Don roughly 10 years ago in Chicago. He was playing out of a friends PH and was a great guy to be around. I miss those days of leisure.

the preacher??

sorry to hijack your thread..but i thought Eric Yow was called the preacher.
Then again one of my friends said there was another professional with a dvd banking system named the Preacher too.

How many guys out there are nicknamed the Preacher?

Thanks Bob glad to hear he's doing ok I'll pass that info on to his concerned friends. Philw

As I understand it, he's living in an extremely well-known community that's simply called The Villages. They have major bowling tournaments there, and yes, I did hear they have plenty of pool tables too. You won't meet many nicer guys than Don Feeney. GF

There's another guy in Phoenix who goes by "preacher Ron" or something. I gambled with him once after getting the news my grandmother died. I didn't play my best and lost to a good player.

You are sure right on the nice guy part. I used to live in Chicago and played in a room he was involved in called Shooters if I remember correctly...out in the western burbs.

REALLY great guy and gave me my first ever pool lessons. He had some excellent instructional videos.

A lot of people thought he was the Preacher character in The Hustler but of course, that was not him.

Regards,
Jim

Thank You to everyone who responded with the update on Don, and like George Fels said you can't meet a nicer guy than Don. Thanks again! Philw

Piranha, I was able to get his number by calling the Villages(I googled it Villages/Florida). A receptionist answered and said "It's a beautiful day at the Villages how can I help you"?
Isn't that quaint? I love it! I know where I'm going when I retire. Philw
