Don't Ya "Wish" Efren Spoke Good English?

Pangit

He's getting older, his vision isn't what it once was. I think he would make a nice pool tv commentator. I'm sure he has TON's of pool story's. And he would most likely be able to diagram a table and tell his audience what the real deal is.

It's a pipe dream. He's too humble...doesn't have the gregarious personalty to do that sort of thing does he?

I'm not much on "Pool Instructors". I learn my instruction from getting my ass beat, and seeing how it happened. Most "paid" instructor's...never had a "paid" instructor themselves? But I would pay money to have Efren instruct me...if only he spoke Good English.

If your username is any indication, you should be able to comprehend Efren Reyes' diction just fine.

I think he speaks pretty good English it's not perfect but he can defend himself. I like his accent anyways...

Pangit's AZB account hacked?

I say this poster is an imposter -- it doesn't have a complete misuse of "apostrophe 's'" as Pangit is known for. I've "corrected" the post above (see in red) so that the "apostrophe 's' misuse" is complete and throughout.

There, Mr. Imposter, if you're going to imitate Pangit, make sure you do it right! :p

Pangit, you're Filipino, what are you talking about?

Pangit is American ex-military living in the Philippines...
I'm assuming he speaks Tagalog like Efren speaks English...just enough
to get along.

An instruction book by Efren would be interesting....
...a project for Freddie (Cornerman)?

A lot of people who don't speak English as a first language are self conscious about speaking it. Efren speaks English well enough for me to understand him and he would make a fantastic commentator. Who wouldn't want to know what he is thinking when a kick shot arises?

I had the honor of spending a little time with Efren in November of last year while he was playing Tony Pirone, and his english is actually pretty good.

Efren understands pretty much anything you throw at him, it's just that he is shy and 'HE' doesn't like his own English, so we don't get many chances to hear from him. But if you sit with him one on one, you'll have no problem having a couple of laughs with him.

As a pool commentator... I don't really think it would work out for long periods. I'm definitely for him commentating in Tagalog though with Jose, Ronnie or Alex... Now that would be something. Subtitles added later of course.

Unfortunately, I don't speak Tagalog. I'm not even sure Efren does.

Freddie <~~~ speaks a little French and can order bier in Germany.

His english isn't that bad now. And I'm told when he arrived it was sufficient...he knew two words... "Bet high"

"Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars." ---Casey Kasem

I'd listen to him commentate even if he struggles to say what he's thinking. Hearing half of what efren's thinking worth more than hearing 100% of some of these other commentators. Just give him a telestrator and we'll call it good.

I agree...I wouldn't think twice about buying it.

In that video you posted of you playing Efren, your break was Pangit as sh*t!

My 1st Tagalog word, yay!

C'est pas bon, Freddie.....
....another dream all shot to hell....:(

If Efren could use English on the printed page like he uses it on the cue-ball
..........he could give Shakespeare the rainbow crush.

We need a bilingual pool player who can write.

Well haven't read the thread fully but I can comment on the fact that English is practically a second language in the Philippines. There are numerous languages spoken in the Philippines but everyone understands Tagalog. English and Tagalog even get blended into one another and form a hybrid language known as Tagalish over there. However, this all applies to the city centers like Manila. Not so sure of the more rural areas but I'm pretty sure Efren can speak English.
