While I've never ended an auction early, if there's something I really want, I'll e-mail the seller directly to see if we can make a deal outside of eBay for the item.

J, not at all.. I consider it a learning experience actually. It doesn't hurt to send the seller a little note just to let them know someone is interested in their item I suppose. So, do you wanna sell the cue to me?? =o] (at a slight profit of course)

That's known as bid siphoning and I've done it before as well. Heh heh. Beware because ebay can and will exclude you for exercising that practise.
