Found this and thought I'd share. Who knew he was a player?

"The thing he really enjoyed was being out with people. That was where he was really, really at his best," says the Rev. Bernard Lee, a Lorton, Va., prison chaplain and former King aide. "And it didn't matter to him their station in life," Lee continues, recalling how King built Civil Rights Movement support among some of Chicago's toughest gang members by playing pool with them on their turf.

That's a great find, I love it.

Did anybody know that Danny DeVito's dad owned a pool hall, and that Danny could run over fifty balls?

Thank you for the excellent post. I have always been intrigued by pool and billiards history and love hearing this like this. Great photos and great post! in the future if you find anything else like that please share!

These pictures are awesome. You always hear about Dr. King the Leader and Dr. King the Activist, it's intriguing to catch a few photographic glimpses of Dr King the Guy.

I'm glad ya'll liked these pics. I appreciate the rep points too. It's always nice to start a thread that puts a smile on people's faces.

One of the pics shows a hand holding a small tape recorder. I would love to get an ear on that recording. I wonder where it is right now.

It was probably someone sharking Dr. King. :P

I'm assuming that's using the bridge on nearly every shot or are you talking about on a 6' table with the legs cut down?

Sharking Dr. King? lol That's funny.

After thinking about where those pics were shot, I now really know where the Chicago style of 1P came from. :D:p

On another note, could you imagine trying to woof against one of the greatest speakers of all time?
