dragon 14.1 who is entered

Is Sigel going to play? He looked pretty solid against Schmidt and I think he could make a run.

It's curious to me that while I strongly believe this thread is read and posted to regularly by the folks running this tourney, there hasn't been a reply to numerous requests on player info.

If one had a negative perspective on these kinds of things they might think that few or no one has committed.

thank you.....my thoughts exactly...

It happens this way every year. They tell you what they want to tell you when they want to tell you. Same with the when and where of the qualifiers.

Emails to Dragon go unanswered.

I was wondering why Chicago didn't get a qualifier this year, but no answer.

It's a shame too, but you know what...I am still going up to Jersey to watch because I love straight pool.

I've already booked my room, but if there isn't any response soon to what I feel is a legitimate inquiry, they can cross off my 70 bucks a day spectator income. I'll just cancel the room and stay home. :nono: :kma:

I wouldn't let it stop me. They will have plenty of 14.1 talent there if the last two years is any indication. Lots of great matches. Hohman, Harriman, Schmidt, maybe Engert, Robles, Lee?, Sigel, Immonen?, Hunter, Ouschan??, Barouty,

How about that straight shootin' lefty from New York...Lipsky. I would love to see him take down one of the big guns.

Ha, I'm just a workin' stiff... I'm as much a kid in a candy store around these guys as most of the gents in the stands ;).

Thanks though - would be great to pull an upset or two!

Charlie is probably too busy right now

Historically, Charlie usually does not respond in the forum and I am sure that he has his reasons. I'm not going to defend his choice to not answer these threads, but please understand that Charlie is currently being pulled in about 200 different directions at once.

Dragon Promotions is currently working to make the event in Jacksonville a success. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to put together events such as that one -and he is dealing with amateur and pro events at the same time. That's a lot of pool players - and everybody that is there will eventually have a question for Charlie.

At the same time, Charlie is having to work his butt off to organize the upcoming event in NJ. Personally, I am glad that the event is continuing to be held this year - I'm not sure how many people know just how close we came to losing the Straight Pool WC - but Charlie and many other people have refused to let it die.

As people that love 14.1 - we should support this event 100%. Straight pool is making a resurgence - and if we keep supporting it, it will grow larger and stronger.

Now, let's add in the fact that Charlie plays in all of these events - and most of the time he plays very very well. I don't see how he does that, because I know that he doesn't get much time to anything besides work 25 hour days, most of the time he doesn't get any sleep - and he's constantly fighting the jet lag that comes with the travel that is necessary to complete each and every mission.

Charlie and I haven't always seen eye to eye, but I respect his work ethic and his dedication to the putting on these events. Anybody that is willing to work as hard as he does to provide an opportunity for pool players to make a living gets my respect. It's not easy to do what Charlie does, so if it takes a while for him to get back to you - it's probably because he hasn't had 10 seconds of free time in his schedule to browse the forums.

I hope that nobody got the impression that I was criticizing 3andstop's post -
if it came across that way, I apologize.

Charlie, if you read this thread, just remember that when you fail to answer the questions in these threads, it comes across as being extremely arrogant - which is not your intention, but to many that is how it is being perceived.

Many of the people in this forum will support anything 14.1 related - or pool related - buying dvd's, traveling across the country (and overseas) to watch the events, attending instructional clinics, etc - so if there is a question asked, it is an opportunity for you to smash those negative perceptions that people have of you. JMO.

Again I agree totally :)

The one thing I do wonder is, if that perhaps it might've been better for DP to have more people involved with organizing an event, to help bring the work load down a little, that way it would give a bit more oppertunity for Charlie (or anyone behind the scenes) to come on here and respond to any questions, etc, but at the same time, there is only so much that a guy can do in a day and we're all human :)

I would love to be able to shoot in the WSPC, but the expence of making it to a qualifier is a complete joke, and so my chances of competeing in the 1 event that I've always wanted to compete in, is pretty much non exsistent, oh well that's how life goes :)
