Robin Dodson, the Hall Of Famer and three time World Champ has a son named Drake, who is the co-star of the popular children's television show Drake And Josh. Drake is also a talented musician.
Robin invited me and my 6 year old grandson to see Drake perform in concert yesterday in San Diego. Before the concert we got to meet Drake and have a photo taken with Dylan, my grandson who adores him. The concert was held at the Open Air Theatre on San Diego State University's campus. It is a beautiful amphitheater with seating for five to ten thousand people.
Opening the concert was Bianca Ryan, a 12 year old girl who won the America's Got Talent TV show. What a voice! Drake was second up and he came onstage to the screams of thousands of teenage girls. It was like he was Elvis. He writes his own music and plays the guitar. He has the Beatle look with a shaggy mop of hair hanging over one eye. But he sings with the melodic voice of George Harrison, a rich powerful voice.
I loved his music and his stage presence. The audience, including the boys, loved him. And he relates well to them also. I recommend you listen to his newest release, "Makes Me Happy". It will make you happy. This ain't no rap artist. Drake is a singer who writes beautiful songs and music that people of all ages can relate to. Drake is 21 years old, a humble young man with immense talent. Just think, he could have been a pool player.
What a loss to Pool, and a gift to the world.
Drake is an entertainer and performer of the highest magnitude. He is a star on his way to being a super star. Robin should be so proud of her son.
His older brothers Robert and Travis were there as well to support their younger brother. Also two handsome and successful young men. Robin is as good a mother as she is a pool player it appears.
Also on the show was Corbin Bleu, another gifted young performer. And the last act was Ali and AJ, two attractive young women who sing and play guritar and keyboards. This was a major concert by some very talented young artists, and I enjoyed myself almost as much as Dylan.
Thanks to Robin for inviting us and providing passes. And thanks to Drake Bell, for being such a fine young man and talented musician. We loved your show!
