Robin Dodson, the Hall Of Famer and three time World Champ has a son named Drake, who is the co-star of the popular children's television show Drake And Josh. Drake is also a talented musician.

Robin invited me and my 6 year old grandson to see Drake perform in concert yesterday in San Diego. Before the concert we got to meet Drake and have a photo taken with Dylan, my grandson who adores him. The concert was held at the Open Air Theatre on San Diego State University's campus. It is a beautiful amphitheater with seating for five to ten thousand people.

Opening the concert was Bianca Ryan, a 12 year old girl who won the America's Got Talent TV show. What a voice! Drake was second up and he came onstage to the screams of thousands of teenage girls. It was like he was Elvis. He writes his own music and plays the guitar. He has the Beatle look with a shaggy mop of hair hanging over one eye. But he sings with the melodic voice of George Harrison, a rich powerful voice.

I loved his music and his stage presence. The audience, including the boys, loved him. And he relates well to them also. I recommend you listen to his newest release, "Makes Me Happy". It will make you happy. This ain't no rap artist. Drake is a singer who writes beautiful songs and music that people of all ages can relate to. Drake is 21 years old, a humble young man with immense talent. Just think, he could have been a pool player. :)What a loss to Pool, and a gift to the world.

Drake is an entertainer and performer of the highest magnitude. He is a star on his way to being a super star. Robin should be so proud of her son.
His older brothers Robert and Travis were there as well to support their younger brother. Also two handsome and successful young men. Robin is as good a mother as she is a pool player it appears.

Also on the show was Corbin Bleu, another gifted young performer. And the last act was Ali and AJ, two attractive young women who sing and play guritar and keyboards. This was a major concert by some very talented young artists, and I enjoyed myself almost as much as Dylan.

Thanks to Robin for inviting us and providing passes. And thanks to Drake Bell, for being such a fine young man and talented musician. We loved your show!

Kudos to Robin for being a gracious host and to her son for his success. Thanks for the report Jay, glad that you all had lots of fun. I think it is great that you would take the little ones to the show. That's great!

Thanks for the great trip report. It sounds like it was a splendid day. It's kind of cool to see a young man do so well for himself, especially when his mom is Robin Bell Dodson. That makes is even sweeter for us forum members. :p

He has a great future ahead of him. Here's a picture of Drake Bell. :)

Jay, my youngest son Steve works on that show (Josh & Drake) and has for a couple of seasons. Small world. Say hello to Robin for me when you see her again. One of the nicest and classiest ladies in pool. John

I can see it now on the set. Steve says to Drake, "My dad can beat your mom". "No way" says Drake. They may have to make this match an episode on the show. My pick is Robin if they are playing 9-Ball. :)

If you never saw Robin play, you missed something. She really got down on those balls, kind of like a left handed version of Jasmin. She loved beating the shortstops around L.A., me included. She even won a big regional event with like 80 players. She was the real deal with plenty of heart. Probably from all the gambling she did as a teenager.

That would be a great episode. Robin can probably act too.

I'm assuming he already has a Mom on the show? (I've never seen it.) Robin would have to play his aunt or something.

Robin & I played for the hot seat at a tournament at Baz-Ten years ago in 86 or 87. I was on the hill and she put a two pack on me to tie it up. She broke & made the 9 on the break and scratched. I got out & ended up winning the tournament. The lady could play, and as you know, none of us took her lightly when we had to play her in a tournament and she won her share of those matches.

By the way, my son Steve works in lighting & rigging on the show and when he is around the teenage grandkids and cousins in the family, he is bombarded with questions about Josh & Drake and treated with star status himself because he knows them. John

You've got a couple of good looking boys there. Sad to say my photo with Drake and my grandson Dylan didn't come out. The flash didn't work and the security guards hustled us away before I could take a second one. They only gave us seconds with him and rushed us off. I barely got to shake his hand and say hi. Well, now I just have to take Dylan to another Drake Bell concert. I know he won't mind that.
