Dress code in tournaments

Was this a pool room event or casino based. It’s sometimes difficult to have strict dress code standards in a poolroom.

I don't love it. Also don't love the idea of pool uniforms. If they're independent contractors and expected to market themselves as individuals, how far should restriction go?

Please. It is a weekend tournament at a pool hall and I think I saw they have a Calcutta. It’s not like sponsors would pony up 100k added if only the players dressed a little better.
Its the longest running tournament in the country. And they dress like that at Derby too.

On the stream just now the mentioned Predator as a sponsor. Yeah they dress like that at Derby. And I think it’s been a pretty successful. I kind of like T Rex’s shirts that say Don’t Be A Nit.

You guys do realize most corporations have gone casual dress, right?

Dunno why so many are hyper critical

Yes, but in the years in which they fought for acceptance and recognition, the snooker players dressed for success, and it worked. They also proved that one can shoot very straight regardless of attire.

Pool can, but has chosen not to, take notice.
I find a waistcoat with no jacket extremely offensive. And evening attire in the afternoon is way worse than pool hall gambling attire. Track suits, pinky rings, backwards hats etc… all more acceptable. 😜

I never said clothes makes the shooter. And what do you mean by they dressed for success? They dress excellently since the 60'ies and possibly before.

If pool has chosen that it chose poorly as most likely its one of the factors there is no money in it, which is a pity if you consider the time it takes to become a top player.

The players are in air conditioned locations so shorts should be verboten and long pants made of a material other than denim. Shirts should be tucked at the waist and collared is optional but recommended but no V Necks. Advertising should be limited to the sleeve area only and one sleeve, not both. No logos or messages in the front or back of the shirt. And by all means, a digital shot lock adjacent to the table plainly visible to the players and attending audience should be used and visibly include a sponsor’s name for generating additional income from an advertiser.

DCC now has a dress code of sorts. i've speculated that it was ronnie alcano that was the straw that broke the camel's back (but he was in good company that year) because the year after it was:

All dress items must be neat and not torn. Prohibited: Short pants and distressed/ripped jeans. Backward hats and sagging pants. Any sloppy, dirty ....
