With the transition from May to July, has there been any change to the dress codes?

I was not able to attend last year and didn't know what might have changed. Also, what does the RIO have to offer being off the strip that you could not get at the Riviera?

Are the PRO events free also?

You have to wear a 3 piece tuxedo with a top hat and you must address everyone as "sir" because pool is classy.

Thanks Mark -

one quick question. How come no backward hats? If you are going to allow hats, just wondering what the difference is if worn backward? Even MLB has payers wearing a backward hat during their home run derby.

There's a comedian in every bunch! Someone told me that you can now wear shorts since the tournament moved to July.

Yes. In fact when they move the tournament to August, when it *really* gets hot, you can wear a thong, tank top, and flip flops.

Yes, the Pro events will be free. However, there will be VIP seating around the tables which will not be free.

As a part time LV resident, I usually live in shorts. Be respectfull of the other players. Remember there are no headphones or cell phones allowed during your matches. Where are you staying? If you''re anywhere but the Rio, use the rear entrance. It can be accessed from West Twain Avenue. West Twain is accessable from either Industrial Road or S. Valley View Blvd. The convention center you see when you enter the rear lot is where the event is played. Same building as the Poker event.

Looking forward to meeting you. I'll be the really old guy with the dark glasses wearing a LV Cue Club shirt  . Safe travels.

Lyn

PS Incidentally, W. Twain runs directly to S. Decatur. If you want to play "big" table pool, Pool Sharks is in the strip mall at the intersection of those roads.

OH and I heard they banned people from wearing glasses. There is a strict monocles only rule in effect this year.

Yes, they turn off the A/C in July and only have a few fans in the room.
Man ... it will be bloody hot, so just wear shorts, tank top, and flip-flops.

A yewgly thought, no doubt :-)

Funny thing is that when you're in a casino it doesn't matter what the weather is outside. Doesn't even matter what time of day or night it is, it's always the same. Kinda like The Twilight Zone, come to think of it.

When Pool Player as a group decide to dress like professionals, and not escapees from the local Savalation Army Soup Kitchen. Than maybe corporate America Will be throwing sponsorship money at pool. Until than Pool will be were it is.

Every year the dress code is discussed, and every year people want to dress down for one reason or another.

I wonder how many would not both to come to the BCA thing, if a mandatory dresses code for men was.

Slacks like a Levi Docker type was mandatory.

SportsShirth worth Collar to be worn with tucked in if it had tails, or if the bottom had not tail it could be worn out.

Leather, or leather type closed tose shoes, loafer type, or lace ups.

?

After witnessing perfect decorum at the IPT Championship in Reno,
attributable (in no small part) to the strict dress code, I have been very vocal in
regard to adopting (and enforcing) hard and fast rules for Players AND Spectators.

What makes that professional looking? What does "looking professional" mean??? I've love to know... Did you really use Dockers as an example? lol

The truth is, pool has had an identity crisis since day one. Should there be some sort of dress code for a professional tournament? Sort of, but similar to golf. You need to be able to preform, therefor there should be comfort... nothing is unprofessional about sneakers if they're clean in appearance.

Also, players personalities and styles should be encouraged. Rickie Fowler has won one PGA tournament in his career yet he's one of the most known. Why??? Because of his style. Sadly, pool will get it. Promoters want their rules and what they feel is "classy". Like wearing a vest and leather shoes... So after you win this tournament you can go crash a wedding... lol

As far as amateur dress codes... "wear clothing". Done.

Well you question is fair, and I used DOCKER TYPE as an example as Wal-Mart sells Docker Type Trousers, for like $15.00. You can get a Hawaiian, or other Shirt with Collar, and Faux Leather Shoes for $25.00. Total package about 50 bucks.

Now I wonder if the BCAPL had a STRICT LOOK CLEAN & NEAT DRESS CODE with the reward being 4 or 5 major corporate sponsors kicking in $250.000.00 READ ADD MONEY.

Would people not cry about a DRESS CODE?

But I understand it is hard to get people to do anything if all they are playing for is little purses, with NO REAL ADDED MONEY.

My point is, "dockers", "hawaiian shirt", "faux leather shoes" is not a professional. You can set a dress code but that doesnt mean people will look good, clean or "professional" yet still be totally within the rules and look like a total slob.

I would consider it to be business casual. Kaki's or even cargo's with a collared shirt... I for one have no problem with no goofy looking backwards hats or worse yet your pants hanging at your knees with your ass hanging out lol

Hmmm well this is not it for sure LOL

That's how my 13 year old dresses or what I wear to the gym....

But left to themselves a bunch of players would show up dressed just like that for tournaments... Unless you are a pool boy and not a pool player that is definitely not the professional look we need for the sport....

Slacks, Dress Shoes, Collared athletic shirt with proper sized patches... IF you are unsponsored the tournaments could provide event patches so you could wear those instead to show what fields of battle you competed on.....

I actually prefer dress shirts and vest but a talk with Thorsten has me leaning very slightly away from that to the dress code posted above... The elite players are athletes and there is nothing athletic looking about the dress shirt and vest so I see his point......

The old advice of dressing for the job you wish you had will always apply... Now we just have to decide how professional players should dress.. especially since "Image is everything" and pool could use a bump up in this country by a bunch of notches on the image front....
