Dress Codes at the BCAPL

Maybe Mark will see this and comment... He likely didn't understand it if he didn't see it.. By the pictures an official owes you $40 for the shirt they made you buy.....

that's what it sounds like to me. They didn't consider it a dress for some reason

And that may very well be the case but that still doesn't make it right. The point of the dress code is to get people to dress better and she was without a doubt one of the better dressed females in the tournament. It's not a matter of "rules are rules" but more of a "why are these rules there to begin with?" There was a problem and she certainly addressed it by dressing nice.

Ozzie, who runs CSI now, saw us earlier that day and seemed to love our outfit. He even made a comment that she looked too good to be with me lol. He didn't notice she wasn't wearing a collar, you know why? Because she looked great.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks for your input.

On a more serious note....you said it was your 4th match. Did you and your partner wear the same thing for the previous 3 matches. If so, I can't believe why nothing was said before. Do you think someone might have said something to a ref about her attire because they wanted you guys to forfeit?

Yes, it was our 4th match and we wore the same outfits all day. You cannot even warmup in the tournament tables (while any matches were being played) without being in dress code. We played from on the tables from 10am until that match at 5:30 wearing the same clothes.

I guess it's possible someone said something, but regardless... she looked great and it should have been a non-issue.

and yáll didn't get points for being color-coordinated AND wearing THE NEW HOT COLOR?!?!

she should have just taken those white pants off & called it a "dress"....

PL - <---- that's BS!

Cleary you are still going to give them your money next year, so what are you hoping for? A formal apology? CSI very obviously dogged it, I'm actually surprised you guys went as conservative as you did, I could see you just wearing a collar and body paint. You got enough people that think you talk too much already, stop making the list longer. You might get a private apology, doubtful on a public one, and you know threads like this cause bad feelings whenever they get read. Let it go homie.

I was about to say something chauvinistic, but then I noticed PL's post. OK she is way too much of a lady to ever complain about being out fashioned, but seriously when jealousy and getting schooled on the table are combined the result is a $40 shirt. Be proud of your accomplishments and go buy a round to celebrate !

CSI is just keeping the savages quiet.

i like it

maybe it was the color, possibly distracting?
get something like this for your wife and see what thier thoughts are then.

Sorry that dress has no sleeves, go buy a forty dollar shirt to put over it. --- or ---
Get a dress with sleeves and you better add a collar or they might think it's a shirt.
Are you following all this. It had better be long enough too, got that!
Make it flannel or denim and I think you get a patch, I survived the dress code test.
You'd better check though before you sew that patch on, as I'm not sure the dress
code allows patches, well maybe one.

There now you look worse, but are dressed in a manner befitting a Pool player.
You can now play in the tournament, if you still feel like it. :p

P.S.
I wonder if the the ref gets a kick back from the guy selling shirts ? LOL.

We do think alike don't we Pinky.
That was the first thing that entered my mind... and if I were her... I would have done it right there in front of the ref and stated to him... "What? Something in the rule book about a player taking off their tights before a tournament?" or "15 min. to change??? I can fix this problem in 15 seconds, I only wear these to warm up with anyway"

I played one woman this past season in league that was obviously trying to dress to shark her opponent... (oversize) see through white blouse with a black bra underneath and unbuttoned down far enough that when she would bend down to shoot.. if you weren't looking into her blouse then you had to be looking in the opposite direction. But since she had a collar on her blouse I guess this ref probably would have called her "presentable". BTW, this woman that I played that night, she needs to take lessons and quit trying to distract her way into a win... she lost so bad I (almost) felt sorry for her. However I could have just misinterpreted that she wasn't really trying to shark out a win... and just had really poor fashion sense (for serious billiards).
As for Cleary's post... The photo of the woman that cleary posted looks like someone who came dressed to shoot some serious pool. From her head down to her feet she looks very casual and comfortable and at first glance I would say that she is probably a real threat on the tables and it's a shame that she had to go through such B*S just before a tournament.

I don't want an apology at all, I want them to realize they can improve things. No system is perfect and this one is certainly far from it.

I totally agree with you on all counts. Sounds like the guy that gave her 15 minutes to change had it wrong from the start. If he had realized he was looking at a dress and not a shirt, he wouldn't have said anything about collars, since nowhere in the "dress" section does it mention a collar, just sleeves.

Knowing myself, I would have been more likely to say something like "show me in the dress code exactly where we are breaking the rules" before I went and bought a polo. You two obviously were conscious of the dress code and planned your outfits accordingly and ahead of time.

Was it a pink polo at least?

That happened to me this year, too.

As I went out to buy a shirt from a vendor, I had to wait while about 3 others were buying a collared shirt, too.

Perhaps the vendors came up with that rule? It sure sells shirts for 'em.

It says "fold over collar" for shirt but she was wearing a dress. Regardless, women's clothing, for the most part, do not have collars. Like I said, I understand they want people to look acceptable, but she looked very acceptable and there shouldn't have been a problem.

Even for a shirt, you are right, women's clothing is not the same style. It would be like you being tossed out because you were not wearing heels.

It was red, closest I could find.

Aside from this, I had a great time and will certainly play again. I'm not trying to piss off csi but they should reconsider why they do things while enforcing rules. Some things simply arnt black and white.

I brought many outfits and was color cordinated for every match I played. Head to toe. Everyone loved my outfits. The pink one and lime green were the biggest hits.
