Dulles- DC area

Go to First Break Billiards in Sterling, VA. That is probably the closest pool room to Dulles, which is in Virginia. It is a traffic nightmare around that area, BTW, depending on the time of day.

46970 Community Plaza # 200
Sterling, VA 20164

Just to let you know, you CANNOT see this pool room from the road. It is in the BACK of the entire shopping center. There is a Burlington Coat Factory in this shopping center, which you can see from the road.

Black-Balled on this forum may be able to steer you to another Virginia spot.

There ain't nothing happening nearby anywhere else that I know of. Most of the pool rooms in this area are sports bars with loud music.

First Break is action friendly. Be prepared for smoke. Virginia still allows smoking in bars. After all, it's a tobacco State! :p

You can get played, if you're looking for action. Just beware of Table No. 1. LOL!

Where are you staying? As JAM mentioned, First Break is the closest spot to the airport, and probably your best bet as a "player's room". But if your lodging arrangements are not very close the the airport, there might be a more convenient spot for you to try.

NEver fear, I am here to let you down.

I got nothin. Sterling is the best choice if you are going to be around Dulles. Even if you don't find anyone to whip you, there is a triple-shimmed GC that will humble you. I played some 10b on it not too long ago, and after about 3 hrs I might have had 5 b/r.

Even if someone is on it, they will likely share. It is always nice to see somenoe else get a dose!

Tuesdays at First Break Cafe

They have a league Tuesday nights. You may be able to get a table. Table 1 is the best thing you could ever do for your game. Really teach you how to focus. Play on another table after an hour on table 1. I go in a couple Tuesday evenings a month and do some cue repair for the players.

I'll bring my gps to help me find the First Break. Table 1 it is. I may need a shrink before the night is out. LOL

Should be there around 9pm or so.

Jtompilot...Brandon Shuff plays out that room. Nice guy and great player! When you find the building in the back, with the pool room, you have to go upstairs! Best of luck to you!

Not to hijack or anything, but the title does say Dulles-DC area. So here goes--I'm also going to be in DC tuesday night. Where should I play in The District? I'll be with some people who aren't that into pool, so I'm just looking for a nice room, preferably with a bar. I don't think we'll have a rental car, so I'm looking for Metro-accessible.

In DC, there are only two real choices: Buffalo Billiards (in DuPont, close to the metro) and Bedrock Billiards (in Adams Morgan, a 15 minute walk from the DuPont metro stop -- if you're walking, you can also jump on the 42 bus if it passes by you on your way up Connecticut). Of the two, Bedrock is better by far, and is the only one of the two where you *might* find some one pocket.

Both have league on Tuesdays, but Bedrock only has 5 tables. So if you want to shoot in DC on a Tuesday, instead of watching league, you'll have to go Buffalo.

Pool halls close to DC and near metro lines: Galaxy in Silver Spring (unlikely to have action). Continental in Rosslyn (definitely no action). Carpool in Ballston (1% chance of action). Champion Billiards in Shirlington isn't far from DC but is not on a metro line. There's almost always some cheap action there.

I'm usually soft action for AZB visitors to DC, but I can't make it out this week so you'll have to fund your own trip.

Good luck,
Cory

P.S. There's also this place in Georgetown, which is new and I don't know much about: http://www.breadsoda.com/. The pictures show 9' Gold Crowns.

Thank you so much for your informative reply. I played in Bedrock last time in town, and liked it.

Let's play next time I'm in town.

Thanks Scott, Brandon was great. I wish I could pocket balls like that.
