Dumb derby city question

Curious........ How many average guys (guys with no chance of winning 1-2rounds) actually play in the nineball event? I'm considering playing in next years for the experience only. Is there others like me???? It's a real option for me now that I moved near by!!

Go for it! There are plenty of players like you and many of us, that just want to pony up their entry fee and give it a shot. Even if/when you get knocked out, the entire experience will be memorable and can only do wonders for improving your game!

There are a lot of folks that go 1and out- it isn't a double elimination event, really.

Compare the spectator admission price with event entry one. Playing has been theChoice of many, solely as a result of that comparison.

Not a dubm question at all...

Most small tournaments with a 10.00 ( or so ) entry fee at your local pool room bar "A" players from playing. On the other side of the coin, I don't think any "big" tourney ( unless it's an "invitational" ) bars lesser players. I believe it's "You got the entry fee? Yeah? You're in... you play Van Boening at 2pm, table 8." :D

So yeah... you only live once. Go for it!

Usually if you play banks you get in free to watch the rest of the week.

You can pay to play in any event and get in to watch all of them, lots of people do it. The one and only time I played in an event I showed up way late due to riding with a numbskull and missed my match...but the $115 wasn’t blown because I still got to watch the events. For those that never attended or got to witness the event at the old Executive West it’s a totally different ball game now. It went from the next best thing since Johnston City to a typical casino money pit.

I did last year after just watching the few years before. Lots of bad players like me entering for the experience and because (as mentioned) it is about the same as the admission. Go for it.

As said, cheap enough, great experience and you have a good chance of possibly playing one of your pool idols, and then taking care of most of the door for the whole thing it's really a no brainer. Not to mention SO MANY people are always talking about what to do to help pro pool???? Well get up and play in these types of advents as I'm sure the top players do appreciate all the " dead money " in these tourneys as if it were not there prize funds would probably be half or less! So if you want to do your small part, just donate and have a great weakened doing so!!!
