Has anyone received their DVD yet? I would be interested in their opinion on the DVD and in particular Earl running racks 7 through 11. I might want to purchase it but like to hear an AZ buyer review first.

Thanks in advance

Wondering if the DVD explains as to why there was a 2 year court battle for Earl to collect the prize money, if it was won fair and square.

I know, it is a little ridiculous. I have never met someone so undeservingly self-important. His ego could give Kanye West's the 6 (and 3 on the wire). He just doesn't get it does he?
The forum is the teacher.

Honest to God! I buy just about anything pool related, but I am so turned off by the constant self aggrandizing that I couldn't be bothered to buy this DVD.

By the way, in your little advertisement about the DVD regarding Earl's great achievement, you mention your own name 3 times and Earl's name only twice. Very telling, in my opinion. Keep on selling! (Just not to me.)

The forum is the teacher.

The odds are 7.8 million to 1 against CJ ever getting it.

Right now I am watching The Earl Strickland Story on UTube.

Its very good and I am enjoying it totally. I am hoping that at some point, Earl will get around to talking about the Million Dollar Challenge and the court battle that ensued.

I'm sure that he will as he has talked about everything else so far.

Earl has always been pretty much my favorite player. He isn't afraid to tell it like it is, in Earls world anyway. I have a couple of autographed poll balls.
Earl is one of them. I have to make a wood base for it on the lathe and after that, it will be proudly displayed in the little shop of horrors.

From what I've heard, and obviously CJ knows better... There were a couple things that the insurance company took exception to.

First was - when CJ "did the deal" with the insurance company, a deal similar to a golf "get a hole in one", some of the deal was verbal and payment transaction details may have come in question. Perhaps a loose and obscure agreement. It was a first of a kind.

2nd: The insurance company may have taken exception to the definition of a break and run. So when Earl dropped a 9 ball, at least 3 times, before the 8, it gave the insurer reason to take exception.

That's my speculation. CJ?

OK, that makes perfect sense.

If the contract stated, break and run, they would take exception to a 9 off the break.
I wouldn't as I see it as part of the game, but I can see where the insurance company wouldn't see it that way.

I have had my dealings with insurance and they will dick you over for a hand full of 20 dollar cds.

Ruthless B itchez they are.

They really mess with a person when you put your truck thru the ice in the middle of a lake.

Don't drink Mad Dog 20 - 20 and go ice skimming with 2 tons at hand. ;) Papa missed telling us SO many lessons. :grin-square:

(sorry my quote skills went under water)

From what I read there was a hairy moment when Earl wanted to continue racking his own balls
when the insurance policy stipulated that a ref had to from the 5th rack onwards.

CJ seems to deserve credit in paying out $ 50,000 of his own money even though it was far from
clear that the insurance company would pay out!

The payments from the insurance company was not all upfront but annual payments of $ 50,000.

( From the book "Pool wars" my xmas present )
