Hello there, Long time reader first time poster.

Looking at some cues on e-bay.

One looks kind of suspicious. What do you folks think?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21212&item=7145909000&rd=1

Item location is "chicago" Seller's feedback indicates Australia

Message from seller when I inquired about payment terms and shipping

"Thanks for your email..I'm selling this item for my best friend from London/UK ..He will cover all the shipping charges..I will take a credit card, wire transfer-westernunion or third party like Square Trade because I am a verified member
I look forward to hearing from you soon!!"

Thanks for any input.

WOW! 3 Motteys and a Scruggs. And two of the Motteys are Gus replicas. What are the chances that one guy is selling all of them cheap? And no pictures. Hmmmm. :p

Scam. Avoid at all cost.

I've reported this and others to eBay,,,unfortunately this scammer is using the old 'one-day' auction and eBay works slow,,,maybe the bidders won't send money before eBay cans the listings,,,,by keeping the bidders private, the scammer keeps me from alerting them about the scam,,,,wish people would read and believe eBay info about what to look for,,,probably needs a "check list for dummies" to be signed by most before bidding,,,,,!

I have bid on 3 of them for fun! we should all bid these items up so those who are not aware dont get taken, nothing ever happens to u,i have been doing it for months now. There should be a book called "EBAY FOR DUMMY'S"

Talk abour hilarious,,,emailed this cretin, accused him of being everything but a human being and what does he do ,,,,,sent me pictures of the item, thanking me for my request for pictures........SCAMMER EL DUMMO !

FUNNY THING ON THIS ONE IS I THINK THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE EBAY ACCOUNT HAS SOME LIVE AUCTIONS RUNNING AND HE DOESNT KNOW HIS ACCOUNT HAS BEEN HIJACKED YET? HIS OTHER AUCTIONS SAY HE IS FROM AUSTRALIA.

I emailed the guy. My email:

Hello. I live in Illinois as well. I would like to come by tomorrow and look at the cue. I am prepared to offer cash if I like it. Please let me know how we can meet. Thanks.

His response (along with photos):

Hi there
Here are the photos you requested ..This is a 1 day listing and I will apreciate your quickly email.
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!

Just a word about these account hijackers.

If you receive an email that claims to be from Ebay, asking you follow an URL link to a website to enter your log in ID and password for 'Account Maintenance' or other types of reasons, DON'T DO ANYTHING.

I got the email a couple weeks ago. I emailed Ebay back and it was indeed a scam. The URL link will take you to a FAKE Ebay website that looks exactly like Ebay. However, if you look at the URL, it doesn't start with www.ebay.com. Any website that doesn't start with www.ebay.com and claims to be ebay is a scam.

This scam was fairly poor. Who would put up their custom cues with only one day listings and with no pictures?

It makes me worry though...What will happen when the scammers get smart. They will have good pictures, intellegent discriptions (this guy's were), and intellegent email responses (this guy's weren't). Its obvious this could easily happen. I worry then how we will disocver these frauds.

some always slip through,,,no way to catch them all,,,do what we can,,,hope people become better educated, but we have to be careful to not yell the 'sky is falling' without a little research and insight,,,,IMHO

you can stick the insight up your azz!!! people post scammers on here and all you want to do is pick them apart on how bad they type or whatever!!!! Whats the problem you think you are the only one that knows how to spot a scam? Im so sick of reading your post you got to bring your ego back down to earth!!!! There is a scam going on right now on ebay that you would never pick out in a million years on a real high end cue. But as for me posting it hell no i will post after it is sold becuse im sick of your sh*t jack and if I posted it you would say looks good to me. The reason i know it's a scam is that the photos and taken from a good friend of mine who owns a pool room and sells cues online and the person listing the auction was trying to buy a cue from my friend's site and ask for more photos in fact im the one that took them. So i know it is a scam for a fact!!!

What happened to E-Bay scams, let's help each other out. You just don't like Jack or what? What brought about this change of heart?

I was just coming here to alert everyone to the same thing. The seller has 3 Mottey's, a Bender & a Scruggs. I believe you are right about it being a scam.

Tracy

Help me out here. Tyrenalia has 438 positive feedbacks. Are you
guys saying the seller was NOT tyrenalia? How did somebody
do that and how on earth could we tell it's not who we
think we're dealing with?
