Earl Strickland broke my heart..

Melodramatic, I know.. He was playing a match in a late 80's/early 90's tourney, and his girlfriend was watching the match. The Accu-Stats commentators had the camera zoomed in on her, and mentioned she was Earl's girlfriend. Pretty girl, poofy hair and all..

Earl wins his match, she immediately smiles (dazzling smile!), and comes over to the barrier near Earl. Earl does not even look at her. He signs an autograph for a fan, and never once looks at her.

Her smile starts to fade, but she does not look angry. More like a hurt puppy. I felt so sorry for her. She excuses herself around two people, goes around the barrier, and sits in the seat right behind Earl, patiently waiting, looking a little embarassed, even. Earl never says a word or even looks at her before the tape ends. There is no way he did not know she was there. He even at times seems to be avoiding looking at her.

In contrast, Johnny Archer is playing the same tourney, and his girlfriend is there too. He wins, and immediately goes over to his girl and gives her a hug/kiss.

Of course, there might have been something else going on there with Earl and his girl, but I think it more likely that Earl and Johnny are just two vastly different people.

Like I said, what Accu-Stats caught on video after Earl's match broke my heart.

I think I have the accu-stats match you are referring to......but I thought she was his wife at the time......(maybe his "ex" by now) .... not to excuse it, but that's how some husbands regard their wives...(or disregard)

Well right there might be the reason one is alone, bitter and slightly nuts and one has a beautiful devoted family and is well like and just hitting his prime.

Please tune in tomorrow for the next exciting episode of "All Our Idols" to find out the outcome of "Earl's Affairs."

Bet they eventually break up.

I don't think this necessarily says anything about Earl. We don't know what had happened between them before the match. Maybe they had a big fight, maybe he was planning on breaking up with her after the match, maybe he caught her cheating on him but she doesn't know that he knows, maybe she sharked him in the middle of the match.

Huh, where the rest of the thread go? LOL. Was it just my imagination or was it another thread I am thinking of?
