Earl and Shane teaming up for World Cup of pool. Great rivalry between Earl and Karl. Going to make for some good drama.

World cup of pool starts right after the turning stone classic, so earl and Shane will have plenty of time to get in stroke with competition.

I still think Holland with Van DeBerg and Feijen is the team to beat. Anyone else looking forward to this? September and October= great time for pool sweaters.

I think the team to beat are the defending champs. Orcullo and Lee Van. And I agree about Boyes, he can be a Lil diva. As long as he's not on that time of the month England will be tough to beat.

I am so looking forward to these matchups. I won't make any predictions but I'll be pulling for The Pearl and South Dakota Kid.

Lvc and Dennis have to be the team to beat but Europe is stacked full of teams as well. If Chang Jung Lin played his usual lock up safes then he and ko would've given the pinoys the boot. Id put my money on any of the Asia teams but man they need to make this 10 ball already.

Me too!

Earl and the South Dakota kid - I like that. If both are on their game look out!

It is going to be tough for traditional long US pool stroke/stance to beat the European snooker type stroke/stance accuracy, will be interesting to watch. Best of luck to all participants.

Karl Boyes is the most arrogant player I've ever seen. He acted like he's the world beater and his opponent 's nothing but trash. Then he got his ass beat and suddenly chilled the fukc down and acted like a loser LOL.

Go Earl horse-fukc that piece of s**t.

Despite occasional flashes of brilliance, Earl is no longer a premier level player.

I feel bad for Shane that he isn't paired with someone who has played well this year, the two most obvious being candidates being Dechaine and Bergman, who have significant wins on their resumes in 2014.

The team of Earl and Shane is not, in my opinion, a threat to win this event.

.. unless, of course, the trophy will be presented to the loudest team.

At a time when the competitive pedigree of American pool is at its lowest in years, it would sure be nice if we sent our best.

Agree with you but you missed an important thing, the most important thing in playing scotch double : both players have to get well in life and respect each other. For those reasons Earl is already the best choice. Shane really looks up to him and give him the upmost respect.

Secondly, Dechaine and Bergman have no international experiences ( see how MD choke at Mosconi Cup ), they can be a little more consistent that Earl now, but I don't think they can perform as well as Earl in that kind of event.

We did send our best.

Go USA!

I am an American patriot, proud of it, and want the USA team to win! I love pool and love watching great players. Earl is a great player if pocketing balls is all one considers for some one to be a great player, but I really struggle with his lack of sportsmanship when things don't go his way. Maybe he can grow up, take some med's, or learn from Shane. I don't care what the sport is, be humble in your victories an gracious in your defeat, don't embarrass the USA by displaying temper tantrums. Your on the world stage for crap sake! Shane will go down in history as one of the all time greats and he may be the current "best player" alive. But for the format being used in this tournament my money goes on the Pinoy team. Those guys play great "pressure pool". For the USA to win Earl can't self destruct again. Shane should of put personal feelings aside and found a more stable partner.

Last year at turning stone, earl was in dead stroke. Watching him warm up on side table before taking on sossei in the finals, he was stroking unbelievable shots just loosening up. So earl can do it again.

Definitely go USA! And IMO for scotch doubles, other than Johnny archer, earl was a perfect choice for Shane. Archer and Shane didn't fair so well last year, so why not go with earl.

Anyone know earl and Shane record when teamed up during Mosconi cup play?

Arrogance?

They played one scotch double together, which they won against Mika and Darren 6-5.

Like a few other players in the competition, Shane could have the option to choose his partner and picked Earl.

It'll all live on Sky Sports so I suppose some streamers will redirect the feed for you guys in the US.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Hohmann and Souquet as the team to beat. They've played 3 times in the event and their record is very simple: 1 win, 1 final, 1 semi.

Darren and Karl, Lee Vann and Dennis, Earl and Shane, Niels and Nick, this is going to be one hell of an edition I think...

Absolutely agree, this is going to be very special.
And of course, I forgot about team Germany. They are a force for sure.

As for sky sports, the best thing about world cup of pool is their presentation is exceptional. Hd clarity amazing.
Can't wait!

Boyes is more arrogant than Earl?

Firstly, Earl has every rights to be arrogant ( not disrespectful ). He is the legend.
Secondly, No matter what happens Earl stays like himself - arrogant. Not like Boyes who acted like a smart ass at the begining then shut the fukk up and acted like a loser when he lost which for me is very cheap caracter.

Earl and Shane have decent rapport and respect between them; that's huge in team play.
Nevertheless, Earl has a big mouth and almost always presents himself in a bad light.

Anything he says these days is only to compensate for the fact —as you say— that he is no longer a top-tier player.
IMO he was garbage for the sport even when he WAS in his prime.

Problem is we never had a deep-enough pool of talent that we could pick and choose who our pool heroes were.
We were relegated to rooting for Earl. Not anymore............thank heavens.

Pool in UK is different than US; TV coverage needs some spice added "Bam!!!!", and no one puts the high heat better than Earl, and Shane brings US supremacy to the equation for "lasting heat", as far as betting sites i do not think this event is sponsored by any of the on-line gambling sites! could be wrong.
