Earl Getting Paid

Somewhere in the barrage of Mosconi Cup posts on AzBilliards earlier this morning, I read that Shane Van Boening said that Earl is going to get paid. I cannot find that post. I also searched Facebook and cannot find a post where Shane said this.

There is one school of thought that it would be a nice gesture for each member of Team USA to give Earl a little jelly roll from their earnings if Matchroom does not pay him.

If someone can find the post about Earl getting paid by Matchroom, can they please share it? If they can find a post from Shane Van Boening on Facebook about Earl getting paid by Matchroom, can they please share that?

Maybe things have changed in the past 24 hours in Earls' favor. I sure hope so.

I was just going to share the same post by Shane. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING, Feeldashot! :) I wonder why mine is black background and yours is white! :-p

Earl literally gave his whole life to pool.
He deserves more respect / compensation for his talents.
When I hosted pros at my place I always paid them well and take care of them.

i also tried to setup some big action matches or get players to come to Turning Stone and play offering deals that were too good to pass on , but were.

Players have no leverage to receive better. Not a career choice I'd recommend to anybody.

I think you need to qualify that statement, the respect deserved.

Nobody sanely challenges the government. Nobody.

Agreed but Matchroom dogged it by not taking precautions to avoid a COVID related disruption such as making vaccination a requirement for participation or getting the players there a couple weeks in advance just incase a situation arose (like we have now).

Wait. It's Matchrooms fault that players didn't get vaccinated?

Should Matchroom also offer Adult Phonics classes so that grown men can follow the laws?

Earl was the one who stated he wasn't getting paid. JJ and Shane are making it sound like everyone made it up.

The guy literally assaulted a fellow competitor in a tournament a few weeks ago, but go on about how much "respect" he deserves

First of all, it isn't a law that you must be vaccinated. Yes, Matchroom should have taken steps to protect their investment and their event. Who has more to lose? Matchroom or the players? If Skyler (not vaccinated) was on the same plane as Earl, it would have been game over for the event and a year of planning and God knows how much money would have been down the tubes. Matchroom gambled a ton on the hopes the players would act responsibly. Quite the wager. Vaccination should have been checked given the strict guidelines in the UK. Who better to know the guidelines than Matchroom (a UK company).

It is a law that non-vaccinated travelers must quarantine for 10 days in the UK if you are exposed to a covid-positive person.

Is it really Matchroom's job to ensure plagers are personally responsible? I think not paying him would solve that issue

We'd have to see the contract to know....sure it's pretty one sided because Matchroom has the lawyers.

Matchroom OWNS the event. It's their money are resources on the line. If you were Barry Hearn or Emily Frazier, would you hedge your bet hoping the players are vaccinated before travel to the UK? I wouldn't. Like I said, this whole thing was a c-hair away from being shutdown. It shouldn't have even been in the realm of possibility had vaccination be required by the company that OWNS the event. We should have already seen Earl break a couple shafts by now.

Hey Rex, you can't think of everything! I mean what's more important, getting the cloth and ball colors right or making sure all the players arrive on time? :)

I am not sure you meant player or plaguer. I love the idea of plaguer though ;)

I am in agreement the individual making their own choice should be responsible for understanding the potential fallout of said action. And owning that fallout without whining.

To claim Earls personal choice not to be vaccinated resulting in him needing to be quarantined due to a rando with covid on his plane based on government restrictions that have been in place for close to two years is matchroom's fault is pure lunacy.

I do however think it is irresponsible of matchroom to allow non-vacinated players/plaguers to travel for the event. I wouldn't blame them for the situation but i don't agree they made the responsible choice giventhe current restrictions. If they had made more responsible decisions around the event this wouldn't have happened.
