Earl Strickland Autographed "Broken Stick"

That's stupid

What a lame sales ploy. I couldn't autograph that if it were me. Making myself look like an ass, and then signing it for profit? Come on.

Well, the seller -- from FLORIDA -- is offering free shipping for this piece of Earl memorabilia, beginning price starting at 300 bucks. :p

It's kind of funny on eBay, as the product listing says "broken pool cue." :D

The guy who wrote this description has a 100-percent good rating, and he throws in a couple Earl perks: ...This Item will be fully insured as part of the shipping cost. He is one of my all-time favorite pool players. He is also a great person. If you know anything about pool Earl is one of the greatest pool players ever in the history of the game. This item will come with Additional autographed card from Earl Strickland.

Just to add a little color to the thread, here's the 16-second video clip of the actually incident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVXb7-xSLfo

P.S. As you're enjoying the video clip, listen to the Europeans blowing air horns and screaming "COME ON, THOMAS. COME ON, THOMAS. COME ON, THOMAS." Horrible playing conditions for Team America at the Mosconi Cup in Europe. I think I am going to bring some air horns to the U.S. Open this year and toot it loudly every time an American makes a good shot.

P.S., P.S. As a matter of fact, I hereby respectfully request that all Americans bring air horns to the U.S. Open this year. Let's see how well accepted it is by the players who are competing on foreign soil to have the whole house pulling against them, every single move, pounding drums, blowing air horns, and screaming at the top of their lungs, "COME ON, EARL. COME ON, EARL. COME ON, EARL. USA, ALL THE WAY. USA, ALL THE WAY. USA, ALL THE WAY!"

What's funny is when I went to search this forum for the breaking-cue video clip link, I searched for "Strickland." There were too many posts that came up, looked like about 50 percent of the content of the Main Forum.

LOL! :D I'll tell you what, after reading the eBay ad, I started eyeballing my house, looking for anything of Keith's which might be eBay-worthy! :o

JAM

P.S. I just showed Keith the eBay ad and then let him view the video link of Earl breaking the cue in front of the European mob scene. That's the best laugh he's had in a long while!

Exactly, but you have to have the pictures so people who don't know You or Keith will know it's authentic

Jake ( thinks it would be funny to see a pic of Keith signing a cereal bowl or something like that on ebay)

Check out Bill Porter's video link of Earl Strickland at the 1982 Dayton Open, along with Jimmy Reid sporting a perm, a skinny Buddy Hall, Jimmy Mataya without his sunglasses, Allen Hopkins the player and not the promoter, a suave Danny Diliberto, Grady Mathews with a beard, Cornbread Red in his prime, Mike Sigel and Howard Vickery who looked then the same as they do today, and Earl Strickland as a very young pup:

Man, this was 25 years ago. I don't think Earl was even 20 yet. Now, that's what you call an American thoroughbred pool champion!

I'd pay 20.00 for it, it would be cool to get the signature glazed over and then use it for your personal cereal bowl

Few of my favorite Earl moments...

And don't take it wrong... I do love watching him play... but he is like the Phil Helmouth of pool ^^

it'd be pretty funny if the stick broke again during shipping.

Only in America

Only in America this kind of sales hype. And some idiot will pay. I would not give you thirty cents for "Earl the Psycho-Pearl" anything.

"You will probably never see this happen again so that would make this a one of a kind item. If you want a XXXXXRARE piece of billiards history from Earl "The Pearl" Strickland bid on this Item quick." (from the ebay ad)
....Given his history I wouldn't say probably never...it could become unrare in a heartbeat.

Is it fiberglass?

My question after looking at the pics. What is the vote on whether or not it is fiberglass or wood. Seems to be some blueing and splintering but wouldn't even a fiberglass coating break in chips or shatter with cracks.
Just fishing here what do you all think.

Wow. What an amazing collection of still photos! The photos of Earl after winning are amazing. You can just see the pride and pure joy of a young superstar pouring out of him. Thanks, Jam. :D
