Earl Strickland Us Open Champion 2007

I'll be rooting for him as well. A 6th U.S. Open 9 Ball Championship would go nicely with his 6 World 9 Ball Championships.

We will never again see that kind of accumulation of these two major championships. Who's ever going to catch THAT record?

You know, after posting on another thread, I remembered that Earl also won the Akron Open 6 times in the '80's! Now this is quite an accomplishment for this individual. Including all the other records he has accomplished.

The field at this event was tremendous. Loads of greats during this period. Winning this was not an easy task. Probably had the same players as the US Open.

Despite all his name calling, obnoxious behavior, etc., he is one heck of a player.

(notice that with his attitude, he never got a negative rep on AZ) LOL

I just don't think his heart is in this freakin' game anymore. He is my favorite player, Efren only comes in second in my list. He just seems to complain a lot now.

And, you Can't Get A Table At The 'Early Bird Special' Either

Yeah, Go Canadians..................................................but NOT to Florida.
Doug

( they take up all the good spots on the Free fishing pier ) :)

I'm Pulling For Him.....Go U.S.A.

Imo, Earl alsways has a good chance of winning the U.S. Open, I mean, he's won FIVE TIMES.
I attribute his success to his comfort level there. He knows that there will be a hurricane brewing in the Atlantic and there will not be any tee-times to interfere with pool.
Doug
( plus, he can knock de ball in de hole )
:)

Jay,
If I see you at the OPEN or Derby City I'll play you some cheap short rack banks sets, dead even.....say...race to 7 for $200? I'll just need 3 games on the wire and you've got action.
Your friend,
Matt

Your right you will never see that again. But on that note, there are 100 more player's that could win a U.S. open. The caliber of player's now from 10-20 years ago is 10 fold.

Not hundreds, but maybe 20-1. The favorites like Niels, Thorsten and Johnny and a couple of others may be something like 5 or 6 to 1.
Where do you put Ralf, Corey, or SVB?

Are you implying that he's almost evil, 66_

But here is a happier looking Earl, and look who's in the picture too.
