Earl "The Pearl"...need I say more?

I'm defending them all....since they aren't present to defend themselves.

You mean I have to wait YEARS before you'll play one of the "so called legends"......??

According to you....they are washed up now. You want to wait until they are dead to play? You might have a chance...then.

I understand....

Oh, those are beautiful prints! You should put them on eBay, too! :)

Actually, they look MUCH, much better in person. The metallic paper really makes them stand out.

E Bay....that's a thought.

THANKS!!

It's a public forum Rick anyone can defened anything, but you know there isnt anything to defend because none of the true legends share these crazy views!

I still manage to fluke a few games when I play but only against these modern day wimps, I'm sure you wouldn't want me to play one of these legends unless I practised? You're not scared I might get lucky are you?

Tell you what we can even play IPT conditions, no jump cues, slow cloth, and 8 ball!

I didn't think you would want a peice of the real bet...

;)

Make sure you write a brief bio of Earl Strickland in the description on eBay. This will be an attractive piece of pool memorabilia to collectors, especially if it is a limited edition. :)

Actually....You should suggest that he get someone that has some serious writing skills and equal pool background knowledge to write up something....(Hint.....Hint.....subliminal message coming........JAM)

BTW....based on reading a few of your posts...I am changing the way I spell USA....I now spell it.....JAM...;)

wow, JAM has really opened a can of worms here,

my .02, GENERALLY speaking of course

-players shoot better position today and are probably better overall, just like any other sport

-players are worse shotmakers today and have lesser strokes

-slow cloth makes it harder for those with lesser strokes

-players are not nearly as aggressive today, play far too many safeties, and don't have the moxy of generations past

-nobody gives a damn about pool on tv so if they're gonna air it, they should do it right, with the players/game in mind, not joe public

-Nine ball does indeed have too much luck

-Breaking like a bird is sweet when Corey does it, not when the whole world copies Corey

-pool will be an Asian/Euro sport soon enough,

In short, I guess I agree with most of her comments

What I don't get is why Efren (as somebody rightly pointed out an 80's player) win's almost all his tournaments, yet all these other so called 80's legends have all these exucses?

who are the eighties legends making excuses???

i think of eighties legends and earl, sigel, hall, varner and of course efren come to mind. the only difference between efren and the others is his mental game and his mindset. sigel retired, earl has his problems, and all of them have just suffered from a lack of motivation i think. which is not a dig at them - it's hard for anyone to stay motivated at anything for decades. this is just life in general, and efren is a rare exception. but to imply that these players are 'making excuses' is ludicrous.
