Killing a little time and came across Earl playing like Earl with the best tape job he's ever done. 3 types of tape and his thumb is as big as a boxing glove. Has me laughing out loud....and he's running out at light speed.

"I could've beat that guy cold. He never would have known. I just had to
show those punks what the game is like when it's great."

I’ve noticed that Earl has a big tennis racket like wrap on the butt of his cue. What is his reasoning for that? Has anybody shot with a wrap like that? Have you noticed any benefit?

This is beyond strange, bordering on insanity.
And very well might not be legal.

Jeremy Jones told me he thinks it should not be allowed something about giving him an unfair advantage keeping his bridge hand steady.

I have heard from more than one person that Earl has a letter from a Doctor saying he needs the tape for some type of medical reason in his hand :scratchhead:

I heard a commentator say Earl said he uses them to elevate his bridge when he shoots jump shots.

I heard Earl say he wraps his cues and hands with all kinds of stuff because "he doesn't want to feel the cue". I think he likes to play "air cue"...kind of like "air guitar".

Whatever he does, he seems to do well with it.

I can't believe that people would try to say what he is doing is illegal, while they are pogo jumping over balls with itsy bitsy sticks, using specialized cues with what could be illegal tips on them to break with, and rigging the rack all the time.

Leave Earl alone. Earl is just being Earl.

"Jump cue? When I was a kid, you couldn't jump with a f**kin jump cue! That ain't jumpin! What the f**k is that, you gotta a tiny little cue and you're all pleased as punch, you got a big smile on your face like you just did somethin'? Get the f**k out, I jump with a Meucci. I jump full table with a Meucci! How bout that? How strong is that??"

I didn't mind that as much as the post match interview. Darren was pretty gracious towards Earl, but Earl was nothing of the sort. C'mon Earl, you're one of the best that has ever lived. Time to show a little grace

Earl did say that at least once they made him remove them, don't remember what match it was. If I was a TD, I would not allow any type of extra attachments to your fingers/arms unless you were actually missing fingers or a hand and needed them to play.

Because I like him so much as a player for his genius and the passion he brings and appreciate what he's tried to do for the game ( even though I KNOW tons of people would say "HUH???" ), I want to give him a pass when he's so rude like that. I want to say, well, you know.... it's Earl. he just can't help himself. But at the end of the day, bi-polar or no, I see and hear that stuff and I just go... WTF, Earl? I agree, Gunz... absolutely one of the very best ever. It's just really unfortunate he does those types of things. No matter how justified he feels he is in doing them. It's just too bad. :frown: And it's not just pool I feel bad for ( and I do ), but I feel bad for Earl. Because he knows he's way outta line when he does that stuff. One time he went off on Michaela in a match when she told him to stop engaging with the audience ( someone wanted to fight ). The next match, he walks in with flowers for her. So he's aware. Just a very unfortunate thing all around.

Mental illness is a serious thing, Yes he is Bipolar and he refuses to take the meds because he doesn't like the way he feels when taking them, Can't blame him there. I mean no disrespect toward him, he is a great player and very approachable (I met him years ago). Overall it's just kinda sad to see but funny at the same time with the show he puts on.
