I have been injured and very inactive for just under a year and eating like a pig. No surprise that my pool game has fallen way down. The ability is there but my concentration is all over the place. Well, I decided I was going to get rid of that ugly spare tire around my waist, and since I can't start training just yet, I've started a diet with food substitute in powder form, I believe "slimfast" is a brand in the US?
Anyhow, for the week I have been eating this stuff, my pool and snooker concentration level and results have shot through the roof! The steady supply of calories have done wonders for my mental stamina and aquity! I feel a bit hungry, but it only helps me and it's not distracting at all. Long term this is no solution, of course, but I have found previously that eating just a little less and with slow carbs and quality protein and veggies, my pool game is so much more consistent that even my regular opponents notices!
I believe it is tied to the blood sugar levels, but naturally the health benefits of eating right will also have subtle effects on the entire body. How can you loose?
I've found the worst things to eat, for me, is sugar and heavy food, like lots of red meat, fries and junk food generally. I can still shoot well, but in a long pool playing session I run out of gas eventually. I guess as a result of not being in my 20's anymore, I have to be a bit more careful about what I eat if I intend to perform well.
