Every time I try to log in, I get that screen. I can't get past it without entering the information. So, I can't change my password.

I just tried by PayPal account and got the same damn thing.

Have my accounts been hacked??

Hay Scott

Call ebay and tell them to send you a link to change your password. They will tell you give no personal info and will ask you a couple personal questions you will know like mothers miaden name or high school or last school attended. If you need the phone number call me and I will try to bring it up for you! Nick

If you always start from Ebay.com, you should be safe...

NEVER EVER log-in or enter personal data from a LINK that has been sent to you via Email.

If you enter Ebay.com and it asks for that info when you sign-in, you can be sure it is safe. Also, change your password immediately if you think you may have signed-on through a link.

Sounds more like a client-side hack - It would appear from your description that your PC has a Virus infection that is causing you to see this message. The virus has either statically re-written your local links to Ebay and Paypal to a fake address that shows the message about your account being invalid, or is actively redirecting you to this fake address via a program in memory all the time.

To test this simply manually type "www.ebay.com" into the address bar and see if it comes up OK. If it does DO NOT LOGIN (See below)

What I suggest you need to do is the following:

1) DO NOT LOGIN TO ANY PRIVATE ACCOUNT ON THAT PC until you have absolutely guaranteed it is clean.

2) Use a trusted PC (EG At a Library, Internet Cafe or a friend's system) to logon to any private account (Ebay, Paypal, online banking etc.) that you care about and change your password ASAP. DO NOT use another PC you may have at home that was networked with this one, as this may be infected too.

3) If you have a Paypal account call your bank/credit card company linked to that Paypal account and ask them to put a fraud watch on your accounts ASAP.

4) If you already have an AV and/or Firewall product installed it has failed and been compromised. You have either let it lapse, not configured it correctly or not kept up to date with Windows Updates. You need to get a good, up-to-date set of AV and Firewall software and clean your PC ASAP. As an IT professional I'd recommend if you are not comfortable doing this that you take your PC to a local service location, like BestBuy or CompUSA, and pay them to do it for you.

Good luck.

You can also forward any questionable emails to spoof@ebay.com and they will tell you if it is real or not. They are almost always scams since ebay contacts you their own system when you login.

Yes, this is true, but unfortunately the problem is this case is not a simple email that he can just delete and ignore, but that his PC appears to have been hijacked.

Scott, here's a link to a Symantec description of a Trojan virus that sounds similar to what you have, it may help you identify and resolve your issue.

Dan,
I believe you are right. Something on my laptop is actively redirecting my ebay and paypal login attempts to the page above. I have changed by passwords on both places on a clean machine.

Unfortunately, my virus protection and spyware scanning doesn't detect anything running that is doing this. I will try your link above.

This sucks!!!

That's a new one on me...I get spoofs and phishing e-mails fairly often with my ebay and paypal accounts...and I always forward them to spoofs@ebay or paypal...

Make sure to delete all your cookies and temporary internet files. I would also run an anti-spyware program and a registry cleaner.

I got one ...

about my Paypal account this very morning, and wanting me to verify information, but I have not linked or gone directly to Paypal. I did note
that it was sent at 5:07 am, which seemed odd to me.

The Symantec site description did not fit - no entries in the Hosts file.

CWS Schredder did not find anything. Nor did my Trendmicro spyware cleaner and virus scan.

Temp Internet files and cookies have been deleted. I've rebooted, too.

My logins are still being redirected to the fake site, but the URLs in the address bar look legitimate. I know it is being redirected, because it doesn't matter what I type into the user ID and password fields, it is taking me to the personal info request page. No user ID authentication is taking place.

This is also affecting my AZBilliards login.

I did not open any emails for anything like this. The only thing I've opened in email came from people I knew and didn't have attachments.

Yeah you need to run some antivirus software, try ad-aware. your browser might have been hijacked.

I was just on EBAY & it is acting very strange. I thought
I had a virus but other sights seem to be okay. Ebay
keeps freezing up & then starting, over & over!!!
