eBay Scam?

I see that someone asked for a picture of the pin and the response was "my camera is not feeling well" (???) UH OH

I saw that today, his feedback is good. The only I do not like is that he does except paypal. What sends a flag of warning up for you. To me it seems to be on the up and up. If you interested in a couple that are scam here's a few.
This struggs has warning signs all over it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=150089145876&rd=1&rd=1

I emailed this guy and offered him cash. I would have a couple of my friends who live in Torrance meet him at Mr Luckys and pay him cash. He did not responed at all. Kind of scary if you ask me.

Southington is 5 mins. away. If someone wants me to meet this guy and see if its legit, Ill do that. Im sure Cuejunkie would as well. Also I can ship for free from work. One condition- I get to play a rack with it, lol.

First, the cue itself is a fancy Southwest worth over $5000 if real. Looks like most of the bidders have figured out it's too good to be true.

Second, Spiritheeler sells mostly toothpaste and trinkets - hence the 1200+ postive feedbacks. Obviously Spiritheeler fell for one of those "account alert" scams and logged into the scammers website thereby revealing his ebay password.

Third, only takes a money order where there is no recourse.

Usually, I place a bid on these, get the seller's contact info and then call them up to see if they really have a cue listed on ebay. The answer is invariably no. All they have to do is log in - unless the scammer has ruthlessly changed their password, but usually they don't since this sends off alerts - cancel the auction and then change their password.

Yeah, That does seem a little funny. Considering the pictures taken were of very good quality. Plus he comes off a little strong in the responce to the question of the pin I think. One thing is for sure.... That cue is gorgeous... :D I would definitely have to talk to this guy on the phone and have someone close by check out the cue to verify. Just my thoughts..

I just asked him to send me his number so we can talk and make an appointment to see it. Lets see what happens.

I was recently involved in a Viking case scam on eBay. The case had a buy it now price, the seller had good feedback that was recent. So, I hit buy it now, I was sent an invoice which had the sellers Name, address, and phone number. I went on line and checked out the Name to see if they lived at the address given, which they did. Then I called the phone number and attempted to contact the seller. No one answered the phone, I tried 2 or 3 more time throughout the day, with no luck.

The next day I tried to call again, and the phone was disconnected. From my experience, I never send payment for an item until I have checked it out, and spoken to the seller. The scam-mer in this case did not get paid, the account was apparently a Hijacked account. The account had been opened in 2000 and is still open today. My only question is what happened to the individual who truly owned the account? Aliens I suppose!!!

If you use my policies as outlined above it is almost impossible to get scammed, so if you see something, and looks to good to be true, take a chance bid on it, if it is a fake, you can determine it after the auction. Just do not make a payment until you have properly checked out the seller and spoken to them.

It is like the boy who cried Wolf to many times, no one listened, in the same respect there are some great deals that come across ebay, and if you handle it in the right way you can protect yourself and get some great deals.

Have a great day!!!!!

Good advice Craig. I'm glad it was you that was involved in that deal so the scammer got shot down. I hate to see a fellow AZ'er get burned.

Well he sent me his number. If anyone wants me to check it out, Ill do that. He told me to call him in the morning. If you want me to ask him anything, post up, Ill check this before work at 6 am EST.

I can't ever remember seeing a SW with those kinds of inlays. Not that it means anything. Has anyone else?

i would bet money that whoever did the refinish probably added the inlays too.. if the cue is truley authentic south west.. i really doubt that they did the inlays... but i am also no expert and this is just my opinion..

Ask him to please send us a picture of him holding the cue.

The other thing is, if you look at the pictures of the forearm and full cue, the photo's have a pixelated quality, meaning they are blown up to 800 pixel width from a smaller original. If the seller took their own photos, they would reduce them to 800, the maximum e-bay allows, not blow them up.

I would estimate these photos of the full cue were made from an original reduced to the size of about 400 pixels. This means that more than likely the photos were copied from a web display.

SW cue

Just as a warning if anyone is bidding or wanting to bid on this auction. Those inlays were absolutely not done by South West cues. I'm not saying the owner is necessarily aware of that fact. I emailed him and asked who did the refinish and was it the same person that added the inlays? No reply so far. The cue appears to be genuine but the inlays were added sometime after the cue was made.....and not by South West.
Regards, Roger

Well all I can say is that i know this cue. A guy in my area ordered this cue from SW. There was NO Ivory inlays. I am sure if you email a picture to SW they will confirm. Anybody bidding on this needs to contact SW.

SW cue

The auction appears to be genuine to the extent that the seller just e-mailed me and and stated the inlays and refinish were both done by Paul Drexler. It's still a very nice cue even if it's not completely original South West. IMO
Regards, Roger

SOMEONE CALL DREXLER TO VERIFY.
I havent called him yet.
He sent me this

"paul drexler did the inlays, the re-wrap and the refinish. this is not my cue so i do not have the ability to take more pictures. check out my feedbacks...i wouldn't sell something incorrectly because i value my rating. call when you get a chance" -tim

That certainly seems fishy since in the e-bay desciption he states..............."I PURCHASED THIS CUE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO IN THIS EXACT CONDITION".

If you look at the pin it's threaded all the way to the end aswell...not the way a true SW should be...
