Ebay--What a hassle...

Thanks for all the input, guys. The cue is going to Thailand to Brian.

As for the "winning" bidder, he only had 9 Ebay transactions, and none since Nov 2006. It just did not smell right, or at least I was not comfortable enough with it.

I have made exceptions in the past, but usually only with someone who contacts me first, I have had prior dealings with, or they are a known AZB member or have references from one.

That's a nice buy Brian. Mezz Cues are good production cues.

Yep- I did a bit of research on them, and (as far as production cues go) they are very highly regarded, on the same level as Schon (I have an STL-1, and I can't get over how nice it is- in a couple of years I will probably look for something else in the Schon line).

I've never seen one in person, but Bamacues said it was a nice cue, and that's good enough for me.:)

Plus, to be honest, I wanted something with a little "bling".

Thanks again for the great deal, Joe- I'm really looking forward to receiving this cue (which will probably take 10-14 days to reach the island- the post office is never in a rush over here:D ).

I really hope you enjoy it, Brian. Mezz cues are really good "production" cues. I would rate them with Schon and Predator for quality control. I have only had 4 or 5 of them, but they all played very well.

Email...

I also just received the following email. If it is a legitimate email, I do feel sorry for the young man, but there are just too many issues to consider for me to send it to Austria.
Joe

I?m not josef1213, this is my father.
My name is Emanuel and I?m thirteen years old. How I saw the cue at first I loved it.

When the wife finds out I bought another cue she'll probably kill me anyway- I'll amend my will and leave it to the kid.;)

Yeah, yeah, I know- I feel for him.

eBay allows you to set your Seller preferences so you block bids from anyone in an area you don't want to accept bids or payments from or ship to. Just log into your account, find your Seller Preferences and from there its pretty easy. Please let me know if I can be of assistance.

See, I learn something from you every day. I can see a career in E-Bay seminar's. This would have helped me in a couple of situations.

Chris

PS. When I was selling customs for a cue maker a several years ago, my best customer was in Europe. He came with great references so I sold to him. I tried to "pre-approve" international bidders with some limited success.

Yikes - That career sounds like work!

I used to have my auctions open to the world with specific instructions regarding International shipping, payments and customs docs. Many of my International high bidders either didn't read my descriptions or decided to ignore them and it got to the point where I was dissapointed when I saw I had an International winning bidder. Now I have them blocked and they have to request to go on the "Blocked Bidder Exemption List" which gives us the opportunity to discuss what I will and what I won't do as far as shipping, customs and payments go. If we can't agree, they can't bid. I'm sure I lose a little income from the loss of International competition in my bidding, but I make that up in peace of mind, which is what it is all about for moi. If I wanted to hassle things for $$$, I'd be doing those seminars, or even worse, working a "real" job. What did Maynard G. Krebs say? WORK!!!???!!!

Get your 12 yet?
