I've got a one-of-a-kind super fancy cue that he made in 1966....I've owned it for about 35 years - one of these days I'll take some pics of it and post them.

Not true! I visited Eddie in his Chicago shop in 1980, to show him a cue that I picked up on the road in TX five years earlier. It had a buckhorn ferrule that Eddie identified as one of his earliest cues (I sold it to Rick Goulden, about five years ago, and it has since changed hands a few times. I saw it again last March at a dealer's booth in VF). He was in a wheelchair then, and not in good health. So his death had to be sometime after that.

I remember when I first played in pool rooms, a guy a year older tha me had a EL cue and it made a very unique sound, not to be heard with any cues of today. It was very audible and I remember it being a grey plasitic/phenolic joint on stainless at the butt. Would love to have that cue, probably made in the early 60's or late 50's, from what I remember his cue making seemed ahead of its time back then, plus it played well. EL may be one of the great cuemakers of that era...so ahead of his time that the old timers were not gonna change.
