I don't think you have to declare how much money you are carrying when you are traveling inside the United States. I have never been asked to do so or seen any indication that you should or even could. Who would you declare it to? I have traveled with more than $50,000 in cash in the USA(nervously).

Unrelated story. Once my friend left a backpack with the proceeds of a show, over $30,000, in a cafe. He realized it an hour later and went back and the bag was still sitting in the same spot untouched.

I can believe that FB has traveled with that much. Why not? It fits in a backpack or a briefcase easily. I wonder how much $600,000 weighs though. Well, according to the net, a million dollars in $100 bills weighs about 22lbs.

I carried over $35,000 in winnings from the WSOP in a Burger King bag onto a plane bound for Los Angeles. Put it thru X-Ray with no problem. The year after I had 42K in a Rio gift bag wrapped in a T-shirt that I carried on a plane, also with no problem. Sad to say, no such luck the last couple of WSOP. :frown:

So Jay, you seem to be a great poker player... I never could figure out the percentages of winning assuming I see all the cards. Is there an easy way to figure that out?

The short answer, is there is no easy way. Once you learn the mathematics of poker, you can begin to figure out the odds on all situations. But this is a skill that takes some time to develop. Once you have acquired this skill, you can figure odds (pot odds vs. winning percentages) in seconds. And you do it all in your head.

None of this takes into account the player you are up against and his style of play, and how he might be playing this hand based on his chip stack relative to yours. All this must be weighed and considered as well.

In Poker, you dont just play your hand. you also play who you are up against with.

*you dont necessarily need the nuts to win. it's not just reading the cards, because cards can fool you. I would rather study whom you are against with. if you want to increase your chances of winning, make sure that your opponent cant read you but read him in the process.

trivia: why do some players wear shades? simple, they dont want you to see and show you the fear in their eyes. but there are a lot of ways of detecting that fear in them, and I'm not gonna tell. :D :D :D

I gotta admit, generally speaking, this really does suck!

Will,

From your perspective as a wealthy individual, what would it take to bring heavyweight, long-term investment to pool?

Hi John,

The quick answer is 2 things:

First: A three year business case/plan with patience and staying power that lays out the goals, objectives, key strategies, monies required, sources of funds, promotions, guaranteed payouts on site, tourney locations, human resource requirements, program management and tracking of results, etc., with players and viewers at the top of every thought and idea.

Second: Fulltime involvement of only credible people who have a long time interest in the game and its steady rise. The game is already wildly popular everywhere, it just does not have the right structure, sourcing and staffing to make it..... yet.

How`s that for a 20-second, not-thought-out piece of drivel!

Will

ps: Your case I recently received in time for the ICCS show is singularly the best cue case in the history of the world! Thanks again!
