You should've set a time frame on your bet in case Yen/Raya does a KT Roy!

Roy Steffensen said:No, the bet is like I said in my first post.
It's quite simple. Here on AZB we know a lot of the players, and many of the players who will be in Manila are actually members here on AZB, like for example Shane Van Boening, Darren Appleton, Nick van den Berg, Karl boyes etc..
I know many of the players going, and Jay will be there, and probably let us know if for example Shane or Johnny or another American doesn't get paid.
We all heard about the IPT World Open, didn't we?
To do it even more simple, let's say if we have NOT heard about players complaining after 2 weeks after the tournament, we assume they got paid, and I will lose the bet.
Still in for 20 $? (You can't get 4 shares, I will try to see if we can gather 5 people who actually believe everything is ok, and are willing to bet on it). As of now, I have 1 bet, and he doesn't even believe he will win the bet.

(I made this post AFTER the bet with Nostroke, though, but before Berry accepted the bet...)

But I only know of Johnny Archer getting paid by now
Your procedure is too normal. RAYA may still be waiting for the sponsors to pay-up! But with the audience turn-out there just may be a little discussion between RAYA and the sponsors about "media values".AuntyDan said:Has anyone involved given any cogent reason why the prize money was not ready for immediate disbursement the moment Daz sunk the final 9? Or why it will take "weeks" to arrive? (From Jay's post) If it's being done electronically there's no reason it should take more than 48 hours even for an international wire transfer.
It's not like they didn't know what day and time this tournament was going to end, or what the amount of the prize purse was. If the prize purse funds are in a bank account right now then cashier's checks can be drawn up just as easily (if not more easily) than sending a wire transfer sent and handed out physically to players who are present.

Maybe Yen has picked up Keven Trudeau's new book, Debt Cures They Don't Want You to Know About.
How about the Phillipine players? Surely they have been paid?
Also my understanding.JB Cases said:Well this is going to majorly suck if it goes down as another air barrel. Normally you pay your event staff right away when the event is done. Maybe TruDough is fedexing the cash over..
Please don't link these Filipino Superstars' names to the WTBC event, we did disown it from months back, remember? Our directly affected players didn't even take part of it. We even issued a BMPAP Advisory!JB Cases said:This might be the end of the brilliant flash that was Filipino pool superstars coupled with high profile events held in the Phillipines..
It's BMPAP-Billiard Managers and Players Association of the Philippines.JB Cases said:Unless Bandido - with the group whose acronym is too hard to remember - and his group can save the day by lining up the sponsors behind the stars of the game.

JB Cases said:I didn't link your player to the WTB. I said that it might be the end of high profile events in the Phillipines which are effectively the Phillipines vs. the best of the rest of the world. We all thought that the Phillipines, with it legendary unlimited supply of top notch players, coupled with the world championship events, would become the epicenter of pool.
Hopefully that concept will still come true. My concern is that if this tournament turns out to be an air barrel then it will be hard to convince anyone to travel there to face the world's best when they might get stiffed.
I mean, if the WPA can't enforce payment for a tournament it sanctions then who can?
I got it - BM + PAP - BMPAP
Do the players and managers have an equal voice in the BMPAP? Seems like there are more players than managers and that the managers could be easily out voted. Or is it even democratic?
And is Yen's position an elected one? Why can't the members of the BSCP force him to step down or call for a new election?

I guess we will know within a week or so if this is the case. The people who I spoke with at the venue seemed convinced that all prize money would be paid as advertised....
Monski, what are you talking about? They are already guilty of not paying the people who already have rendered their services, the referees, and expect immediate payment or at completion of the project which was last Sunday. These people, the referees, depend on daily income to support their family. Had they not been hired to work in the WTBC they would have been earning daily in the poolhalls. How do you think are they feeding their family now without payment for the duration of the WTBC? 10 Days including the Qualifiers.monski said:------------------
So I guess they should be given an opportunity to make good their promise.
How long does it take for other similar tournaments to pay out? I mean what is a reasonable time frame?
There was a discussion before that the WTB might not push through. It concluded recently... plus an announcement that there will be more WTB tournaments to come in the PI.
There was also a discussion about the possible lack of funding or sponsors.
I think we will indeed find out within a week or so if everyone will get paid.
The commitment to pay should be honored no matter what. If they don't pay up they will be held responsible.
Innocent until proven guilty right? If they make good, it will be a great development. If they are guilty, they will be judged... not by us but by the world.
