From Scott's facebook page, he reports Efren has selected him for his last match up in the USA. I guess this means Efren is retiring from international competition? Does not look like there is a date or location set yet.

Just the thought of that is enough to bring tears to your eyes.:crying:

Efren still has plenty of game. Could very well be his last stand, but who knows? I personally would continue playing as long as it was enjoyable and I'm pretty sure Efren feels the same way.

Scott wasn't selected as much as he is about the only player that would step up to play Efren. He does have a winning record paying Efren in 2 man events.

The match will happen in the summer of 2016. Any room that would be interested in hosting this match should contact me as soon as possible.

The match is already on and yes it will be streamed and recorded. The official announcement will come when all the particulars are sorted out.

Will be fun to sweat!

I hope Frost does not pull out a jump cue again! I can't believe he did that, lol. He will never live that down.

Yes. Most of those claiming that Efren is "over-the-hill" are young and don't have much of a perspective on aging. Of course one slows down with age, but Efren's game can drop a few notches and still be amazing.

He is still winning, and is still an elite player. He's 61 years old. There are many examples of players winning pro titles when they were older, - even in their seventies!

Is Efren saying this is his last match up in the USA or only Scott Frost?

How to watch?

I would love to watch that match and even though I am a loyal American I would have a hard time not cheering Efren on.

Knowing when to "hang it up" is a good thing in my opinion, but only Efren should decide that. What does he have left to prove?

Didn't Efren just win something fairly big not too long ago? Like within the last year and a half? Also I think he had a good showing at DCC so I don't think he can't compete at a very high level. As a previous poster said, knowing when to hang up the gloves. However, for people like Efren who are competitors at heart I think it is hard to retire when you are still playing at a high level. If he beats Scott that will make it even harder to say no mas. JMO.

shooters pool hall olathe

Boy it sure would be nice if match could take place at shooters in Olathe kansas. Great room to host this. And Dan tull owner could make it happen. For sure.

I think it would be a good fit at Hard Times Bellflower, Efren likes the room, plenty of spectators can get around one of the toughest tables in the country. POV could do the streaming, which to me is the highest quality stream in pool. (video, internet connection, and commentary) Scott should be very familiar with the room being close to Phoenix.

Make it Happen....? That's the only one I recall. Not sure I would call it big, but the field was tough as nails.

I think he's just looking to relax, and let people come to him. Maybe up his chess game a little, if that's possible. It's gonna be hard for him to skip DCC, but we'll see.

Efren won the Accu-Stats Make It Happen last year over Danny Smith.

If this is his last match over here I could understand why. He can still compete at a high level but when I saw him at hard times like two weeks back he just looked tired both days he was there I couldn't imagine his fatigue lasting much and having fun for long multi day events with jet lag and all that
