Efren playing daily in the Philippines

For several months, I've been enjoying watching Efren in almost daily money 10-ball matches (typically races to about 20) with all the up and coming young players in the Philippines. Many opponents have no FargoRate. Efren's speed is every bit of his current 775 Fargo; he rarely dogs shots, his stamina and steadiness remain good, his safeties are fantastic, great position play, and he still has his magic. Most matches are no handicap, but some give spots to Efren. Those 'unknown' killer guys can be tough, and the matches draw a packed crowd. I surmise that Efren's retirement plan, while healthy, is to share his game with all these young countrymen so they can gauge how they might perform on a bigger stage. But Efren is hustle-smart and wins a lot more than he loses.

I've heard him say he gets paid to play in those games because they know it will attract a crowd. Probably also a % of the backers money if he wins.
 
Pretty incredible that Efren would still be a top 10 player in the US at age 67.

I wonder what his Fargo would have been in his prime.

In his prime on tour, his 9 ball break was nothing great....but he ran out nearly every time he had an opening, or played beautiful safeties and kicks. That is why he always finished so high, or won so many big tournaments. He shined under the spotlight. And when his 9 ball break was working, it was just about curtains for all. Of course in his prime he was the best at one pocket, and a top tier competitor at everything else. I still don't follow the whole FARGO thing, so just take whomever has the highest fargo now...add 20 to it, and that was Efren.

Well Efrin Is as good as he is today because his ability as young man.


Not like some one 60 picking up Cue for first time, and building in 7 years to be Efrin like.

I've heard he and his wife were very careful with their money, investing it wisely and he still seems to be actively playing and making money in the US and abroad - and now at home it seems. I think in his country he is very wealthy....with still a team of managers keeping him in money making opportunities. And he's earned it.

I legit would love to see this list you speak of if you honestly think Efren at 67 would be considered a top 10 player in the US today.

Off the top of my head I can name:

Skylar Woodward
Billy Thorpe
Max Eberle
Jeremy Sossei
Tyler Styer
John Schmidt
Justin Bergman
Oscar Dominguez
Corey Duele

Or are you just going off of the championship pedigree that Efren has vs the majority of the American players?
