Efren putting on a clinic playing one pocket on TAR

Who said that ?

Wasn't me.

From my perspective only. I guess I was just thinking that it should be impartial.

I didn't get to watch but when you make it available for PPV in May I sure will.

It should be pretty clear that part of commentating is remaining neutral. If Bobby wasn't able to do that, then he should have been pulled. Rooting for or applauding when a player gets a bad roll is unprofessional.

I don't know I kinda like the idea of the commentators being partial as long as they are not maligning the players. I don't mind if they are pulling for one of the players. I guess to me the golden rule applies in that I wouldn't want to say anything about a player that I would be ashamed for them to hear later when they see the match.

And of course the commentator should do absolutely nothing that could influence the game if they betting on the match.

Highly recommend you buy the match from Justin. Incredible back and forth with so many amazing shots and momentum swings!

Thanks TAR.

Truly great match, even if someone thinks it is exhibition, there is a lot of pressure on these two to perform and they did, run 8 and out most of the time, that is not easy.

Thanks much TAR, i do want to thank the commentators they did great job, even though they favored one side, it was fun hearing them, big thank you for them as well as the video production great and crisp, hope one day they incorporate replay.

If that was the case then they need to pull Ken from all Shane matches as he consistently pulls against Shane under the guise of "wanting the match to be close":eek::eek:

I see no harm in the commentators having a favorite as long as their commentary is fair. I thought Cotton did a good job of giving Shane credit and remaining fairly objective about shot selections.

However, having said that, listening last night really makes you appreciate the times TAR can get Bill Incardona, Scott Frost, or Jeremy Jones in the booth. They take one pocket commentary to an entirely different level in my opinion.

Thanks again Justin for another awesome match up, it has been nice to see these last two matches.

A pretty amazing match all the way around.

Efren has so much knowledge and experience you just know he knows the right thing to do even though you can't always understand why he's doing it. Shane shot a good number of highly creative shots and really stretched what is conventionally done in many situations. You had some great safety play in the opening game, and some hyper-offensive play and great runouts in the mid and end games. I know I learned several shots that I'll be practicing next week.

It was also a good match because both players got a little weak at one point or another and it wasn't like watching two robots play, so that made it interesting too.

I thought the commentary was fine and Bobby didn't cross any imagined line rooting too strongly for one player or the other. He was just so into the match that I think he was rooting for whomever was at the table. It's was actually kinda funny to hear him sweat it.

So, all-in-all, a tremendous match. I don't usually sit at a computer and watch pool, but we came home early and I asked me wife if I could watch instead of watching TV with her and, bless her heart, she said it was cool and thanked me for asking.

If you love or even just like 1pocket, this would be a match to see.

Epic match

Epic match. I do agree there could have had better commentators... I didn't mind Cotton pulling for Reyes though, heck i think everybody was...lol

Amazing match. Like some others, I had no problem with the rooting from Cotton. Who said the commentators had to be objective? The ref has to be objective, anyone who can affect the outcome should be objective.

Commentators are essentially there to help direct the flow of the match, and for the purpose of entertainment. In football, they help explain the rules and carry the viewer along with situational information.

If you bought the TAR PPV, most likely you know most if not all of the rules and are a diehard. This pretty much only leaves the entertainment part of it, unless you have someone like JJ who is brilliant at diagnosing the table. I thought Bobby's obvious sweating was entertaining, so he did his job.

You just about can't help root for Efren. Almost 60 years old playing arguably the best in the world. Everyone is on the edge of their seats just hoping for some of that Efren magic that we all know is possible. He is still a top one pocket player even though he is 30 years older than many of his peers. Efren may have lost some speed, but lucky for him he was about two balls ahead of the field. Now he is even with everyone and doesn't dominate, but can still win his share...just not the lions share of old.

<---- Can't wait to tune in tonight.

being impartial is just being FAKE.

I would rather listen to what a guy is really thinking rather then a script.

That is why TAR is so great it's REAL.

Unbelievable match! Efren played unreal for the first 8 games. Shane took advantage of every opening through the middle of the match. It looked like Efren was getting weak. Somehow the magician pulled it out. I feel incredibly lucky to have watched that match.

Who cares what player the commentator pulls for and if they have anything on it.

I swear people find any and every thing in the world to b*tch about.

This is America people you have the freedom to do what ever you like, if you don't like what you're hearing or seeing then remove yourself from the situation. And stop b*tching about it.

The X at the top right of your screen will cure all your problems.

Efren

Wow... The first 8 games of this match show just how dominating efren can be. May of been the best one hole I have ever seen. So many of efrens shots had me saying how did he see something like that and then after he sees it he hits the shot like its a hanger lol. I was also inpressed how well shane fought back. He hit a little gear in the middle he was crazy aggresive and some games he got out from no where. After shame gets on the hill one more time in efrens life he gets lucky by far the best TAR match I have ever seen. Thanks Justin you put on one hell of a show last night

I could be wrong (happened before) but I think he was being facetious.

Thank you , and you are rite, i cant believe that went over my head (Efren always says that after winning).

Johnny take it easy on me, you had it right, Efren got lucky, like always when he wins!

I thought his commentary was fine, and it's cool with me if he bet on the match. Where he crossed the line though is when he openly cheered (multiple times) when something didn't go Shane's way.

I ordered all the matches but didn't plan on watching last night. Tried watching one pocket a few times before and never really cared for it. I put it on and thought I would give it a chance because the 8-ball match was amazing the night before. I'm glad I did, I couldn't stop watching, it was one of the best matches I ever saw. I'm now interested in learning one pocket!

Thank you Jason for putting this together. Thank you TAR for making pool relevant again. ( I hope you take this to Amazon-you do know they are looking for new tv shows to compete against cable and are giving away over 100 million dollars for programming. Go ask for some, TAR should be exactly what they are looking for.)

Like any good boxing match, the next question is when is there going to be a REMATCH!?! Hopefully within the next three months. Make it a week long event-every game- 8-ball, 9-ball, 10-ball, 14.1, one pocket, full rotation, and 7th day fans pick which one they want to see again.
