Efren was absent from the b.c.a.,10 ball, world summt tournies.Does anyone now if he is sick, retiring, burnt out, anything?usually everywhere busty goes Efren is with him.Hope everything is o.k. with the magician.

I have heard that he has been playing a lot of moneymatches in Manila the last month, and that he is in deadly stroke. Beat Ronnie Alcano 21-19 in 10-ball few weeks ago too...

After winning the 500K top prize in the last IPT (albeit still being paid by KT in trickles), I think Efren is more likely to pass up U.S. and other international 9ball tourneys with top prize money of 10K or less. He can make that much or more in action matches in the Philippines, which he is doing right now, without the hassle and physical strain of longdistance travel on his 53-year old body. About this time of the year, he would have been in the Guiness Asian 9ball tour, which offers higher prize money and is being dominated this year by the Taiwanese players in his absence, had he no connections with Guiness' competitor San Miguel Beer, the previous Asian tour sponsor. I am sure, however, that we will see Efren in the U.S. Open and his favorite stomping ground, the DCC Derby. That said, I cannot remember a comparable period in the recent past where Efren was absent from the tournament pool scene for more than 3 months.

If I won a small lotto I'd take a well-deserved vacation as well.

21-19 was the score against Jharome with the wild 8. He beat Alcano 21-09 in 10Ball and these all just happened last week. Efren and the Bugsy Boys have been going at it for 3 weeks now and almost on a nightly basis. He's only lost once, 15-14, in rotation against Ronnie(2weeks ago). Since then he has won 100% of the time. How strong is that!

It looks like the Pool Community is suffering from Efren withdrawals. LOL! Go attend the coming US Open and DCC to see how Efren's doing.

I don't think that is their main concern. besides, they are happy playing at home with less risk of losing money to players that they know they have a chance of winning. they are very much aware of whom they are facing and not that very confident gambling outside their territory, most especially if they gamble their own money. they are just being good businessmen. :D :D :D

The way how Efren wins against these young players, I say there's a difficulty in finding a new replacement for the magician.

A valid reason and I can respect that. But since my post was in reply to the topic's question then his off-kilter reply to my post really deserved a "Butt out" yet got a subtle reply.

Efren is irreplaceable.

don't worry about it Edwin. the person you were just replying to is only a 12 year old kid who hadn't had his circumcision yet in pool. lol! actually that kid just wanna get inside everyone's skin who are pro-Filipino. no disrespect to Taiwanese players, but that kid is giving 'em a bad reputation. :D :D :D

Taiwanese are happy playing at home is because taiwanese has their own tournments. Their organization is strong and active. If they want to win the fame and more money, WPC and asian tours are the best stage. For example, Chang Jung-Lin has owned over US$30,000 in the past three months; Orcullo was famous in USA and the Philippines, but I think Alcano is more famous than he in the whole world.

As I know, in the Philippines they only have few big tournments one year, and the most players must make a living by playing the gamble games or joining the tours in Japan or USA. In fact, according to the statistics there are ten percent of the population of the Philippines are working outside their own country.

Beside, I remember not only Yang but also other taiwanese has ever earned much extra income from the pinoys in the money games during the 2006 Philippines WPC. I'm sure taiwanese are very confident gambling outside their territory, especially in the Philippines.

nice statistics my friend. very true indeed. however, can you also include the total population of the P.I. and also state that how many are those 10% working outside of the country?

I'm sure they will be welcomed to try their luck there, not just during the WPC event but also atleast a year of gambling. I dunno if that is enough time for them to face a lot of players. hope they don't back out on someone. ;)

How about their lucky number 8?
How come they only play 9 ball which is basically a coin toss?

It's not necessarily 8. if you are born on the year of the horse, it doesn't mean your lucky number is 8. you must also consider the month when you were born, as months also constitute the seasons namely summer, winter, fall, and spring. which may affect what your lucky number is., thus changing it. you must also put into consideration that the super aramith balls that are going to be used are perfectly round, so as to maximize luck factor ! :D :D :D
