Billy_Bob said:I'd like to know how long he studied the table before shooting?
Did he use his cue, etc. to line up the shot?
Or did he just walk up and whack it?

It was one of the greatest shots I have ever seen. The second greatest shot I have ever seen was also by Efren, playing one pocket against Larry Nevel in the 2000 U.S. Open One Pocket Championship finals.

Maybe someone can fill us in on the details leading up to that shot and the consequences.
I think that thread wasiusedtoberich said:I would give credit to the person, but I can't find the thread it was in. The thread was the one Marissa started last week which contained the article written about Efrin during one of the DCC's.
vader93490 said:It was the hill-hill game and the shot was on the five ball, not the eight ball. Efren played a safety and accidentally caromed an object ball in, hooking himself. He studied the table for maybe half a minute and then played that shot. He said during the post-game interview he needed some luck to get that shot in. The tape is still available from Accu-Stats and it's the Sands XXI finals.
Another Accu-Stats tape that has Efren making a somewhat similar kick shot on it is the Masters 2001 finals. If I remember correctly in that match he played a three rail kick shot and pocketed the one ball.
Also, check out the semi's from the 2001 Masters tournament between Souquet and Reyes, it's one of the best played 9-ball matches I've seen.
Keith talks about this shot hereRAG said:As I recall it was one of the few times you'll see Earl actually gracious in defeatand he actually said on the tape he felt like he was in trouble because someone else had made the same shot on him years earlier. I believe he said it was Kieth it's been a while since I saw the tape

As I remember it, he did line up the shot. And after he made it, Earl gave him a standing ovation, as did the rest of the audience...for about 3 minutes, and I mean screaming ovation. The most amazing part of the story is that is was hill-hill in a race to 13!!! It was truly the greatest shot in history!Black-Balled said:As I recall, Earl saluted the pool gods for making Efren's safety pocket a ball. Then Efren made that shot.![]()
