Efren's Stroke Slo Mo'd

I dont know how he can put that bridge finger on his other finger's (name-duh!) fingernail and still make a bridge. Can anyone else do this?Ive seen it in person and it can be even further up the nail.
 
I bridge sort of like that, but I can only rest my finger on my first knuckle (just below the nail). Efren's got these long, Filipino guitar player fingers that are just about double jointed.
 
well I have taken a good look

This player has to slip the stick and/or drop the elbow because of the position of his forearm when he hits the cue ball to prevent the tip from arcing severely. Also, he doesn't understand a thing about keeping his wrist moving in only one plane.

I'd say about 99% of us smart folks that know better on this forum ought to be able to beat him, right? :D :D :D

If he got a hold of some esoteric aiming system, Lord have mercy on the other guys.
 
What i noticed the most is that when they show his bridge, ever so slightly he presses forward as he brings in the stroke. As if he almost lunges his body also toward the target. Maybe that is why he lifts his head a lil bit also.
 
I was sweating Efren playing some one-pocket last weekend when I noticed and commented to a friend that he holds the cue loosely and sort of "throws" it at the cueball on most shots.

He made 2 seperate outs that were "circus" or "magician-like." One of them involved coming with a super tough bank and then going multi-rail for shape to make the next ball and break out the last 2 clustered balls. It was insane.

Bustamante does the exact same thing. I honestly think that every shot he makes has no more weight behind it than the actual weight of his cue.

This player? Forgive me if I'm wrong but you do know who efren is right? It just seems the way you wrote it is as if you didn't know his name or who he is...

He already has one, AND he uses it. It's actually pretty simple. Too bad you don't know anything else besides ghost ball. You might be able to run a rack every 6 months or so.

He has one?
He dun't.
He just uses tangent line and shortening the distance system. Nothing esoteric. If you believe all the people who somehow quotes Efren without talking to him, you have a nice list.
 
Joey, Go to Bob Jewetts site and read the P&B article about Pro Aiming. In that article, the aiming method Efren uses is described by Nelsi O'Hare (sp), who learned that aiming method FROM Efren Reyes. It's really simple... so simple it's scary. In the same article, Efren explains, very breifly, how he compensates for inside and outside spin.

A while back I was concentrating on smoothing out my stroke. I started doing the same thing, throwing the cue somewhat, and noticed my accuracy increased tenfold. Since then, I have been shooting like that, and with very good results.

You don't understand Cane...Joey claims to have insider information because he knows a friend of a friend that happens to be the second cousin to another friend that is in fact the first cousin to Efren and "he" claims that Efren uses nothing. But then again...Joey has been known to make things up on the spot to coincide with his own goofy views.

Actually Joey knows Efren as do many people here in the LA area. Efren is
quite open and friendly for the top player in the world. Its tough to
understand him sometimes when he gets to talking in details due to the language gap.
A few times I have seen Efren trying to explain what he does on his shots.
I have never heard of him mentioning a system such as one of Hals or anyone elses.
I wish I could get the exact lowdown on what some of the top players do.

As for myself I have heard Efren point to the object ball and say he knows that he needs to hit it here. He said that he has played so long and so many shots that he just knows where to hit the balls.
He might be using a system and doesn't want to say it or does not really know how to explain it. Whatever he is doing it works.
Maybe next time he is in town I will ask a friend to ask him to explain it
again. He is Filipino so maybe it will be easier for Efren to explain in his native language.

Grab me if I'm around. I don't speak Kapampangan ( Efren's first dialect ) but I do speak Tagalog ( Efren's second dialect ).
You can grab Alex too. Alex speaks Kapampangan and Tagalog.
