Elbow drop

Anyway with most of the pro who had been mention the drop was on the back stroke not on the stroke, its more like a shoot relax shoot relax...

Wwe havent had a good old elbow drop thread in a while(we used to have them weekly a year or 2 ago, I miss them), since I love re-runs I thought I'd start a new one.

Mike Davis who just won Reno has it mastered as well as Keith, so I think its a great skill if you can get away with it, its all about tip contact time with the CB, every little bit helps, Choppy, hackey ,punchey strokes just dont get it done anymore on 860. with LD Shafts....

Happy New Year

Fatboy,
You've seen me play. I've got about the worst elbow drop out there.

Rick Flair had about the best elbow drop I've seen. To be the man you've got to beat the man.

if the tip of the cue is only in contact with the cueball for 1/1000th of a sec, why does it matter if the elbow drops?

If the stroke feels natural & makes balls, why should you re-learn how to stroke the cue?

I tried whole-heartedly to change my stroke to a pendulem stroke & even took a day class from Randy G (who really knows his stuff by the way)

I really tried for about 2 weeks to make the pendulem work, I COULD NOT MAKE A BALL......ANY BALL.

I went back to my Elbow dropping, finishing to the left stroke & started making balls again.

If you are asking about the elbow drop stuff to improve your game, do you really think asking about it in an internet forum is going to improve your game any? Someone please find me one pro or even decent shortstop that learned how to win games on the frickin' internet. Stop asking about a stroke and go develop yourself one. Do what works for you. What all these crusty az old men think they know about the game isn't going to do you any good anyways if you spend your time trying to learn about the game on a forum. Heck I wouldn't know what this forum was if it wasn't for Maryland's smoking ban and the slow death of American pool. If some of you shot as well as you type, there might actually be stronger competition in this country.

I don't understand the problem with discussing techniques on a pool forum. Not everyone has access to an instructor, so for those who need to make due with self teaching, this forum is an excellent resource. Much of the information provided by knowledgable posters can not be found in many of the instructional materials available at your local book stores. In fact much of the material regarding fundamentals are quite scarce, often only 2-3 pages dedicated to the subject, as if the book's aim was to keep it's reader from improving.

P.S. I can think of at least one person on this forum who has risen to a shortstop level. I'm not a shortstop, however I have improved greatly since joining, and am still improving at a noticable rate. Whether it has anything to do with AZ, who knows.

A few more posts and my stroke will be complete.

Why are you complaining about pool discussion on a pool forum?

What do you have against pool players learning new techniques here?

As for the pros and shortstops you ask about, I know a few who don't like this forum, as apparently it sometimes kills their action.

Then there's the issue of obtaining good information without paying for it. There's plenty of good info right on here, and it's free. What's not to like?

As for the quality of someone's shotmaking, that has nothing to do with one's typing ability, as far as I know.

Also, for some reason, it seems you have a chip on your shoulder. Do you?
