Does anyone have a refferance to what this material costs for purchase? A few months ago I was trying to find some on the web and it looked as if it could only be purchased at one place and if I was reading the reading the exchange rates correctly these people were realy proud of their material. Can't hardly imagine a plastic being this expensive to manufacture. I talked to Dale (PDCUE) last night and he told me that Vic stein had told him the material would run around 3.00 for a piece long enough to make a ferrule. I thought that I had figured out that ferrule size material was like 130.00 a foot plus shipping from Germany. That's the reason I looked no farther into the material. Although 30.00 a ft. is very high it's a whole lot better than 130.00 in my opinion.

Dick

That's pretty ballpark I believe.........around the $3 per one inch cost.

I don't think so............but some like the softer sounds......kind of like going from rocknroll to smooth jazz!
They still have the original tips on those? Can't get those anymore...if you can they are not cheap. Ivory ferrules for sure!
That would be a good post, because I am curious to how cuemakers want their cues to sound (or hit) like? I want mine to *TINK*, but some hate that sound... Most of the local Greats, hit with my cues, and say that is the hit-sound-feel they are looking for, but most of the C players want that THUD-Mush sound...What do you think? I have worked for 7 years to get mine to TINK, and some like it to mush...

I think most of the newer players confuse the "tink" sound with miscueing and they feel like the combo is making them miscue all of the time.

I'm not saying this is what happened............but I'm not 100% sure Victor is there every single day and some times maybe only half the day.
I do know he stays very busy and should get back with you though.

Info to all cuemakers in the US

Hi comrads,

First: Victor is only at Blatts from Tuseday to Friday. So please be a little patient.

ELFORYN is an invention of us (Eurowest) and the manufacturer. Even though you might think it is just plastic, the production is very very complicated. It is not just a plastic but an ivory substitute and therefore very cheap im comparison to real ivory. It is not just some mass product fiber stuff.

The material is being produced under a vaccuum (Spelling?) and lots of other technical aspects that need a lot of high $ machinery. If you have any technical questions about it, feel free to contact me directly. I will answer as quick as I can.

Edit:

Regarding the hardness questions: The technical hardnes is equal to real ivory. Please haev a look at the technical data sheet the figures aare the same. We are using the material since November 2005 and introduced it first time at VF this year. A lot of you guys got some samples there..

End Edit

Best regards,
Markus
