my new Case "embedded Tribal" i have finshed today

- Case is 100% handmade
- the Case is a 2/4 Case with Jumpstick bag in the lower pocket
- 3-4 mm thick Leather
- pipes, with two times covered thick canvas for best protection
- chalktray with a volume of 3 chalk

and my newest Gadget - removable "table cue holder"

I don't know anything about copyright stuff but Talisman has been using "Tribal" for several years. Why copy their name for an original case like yours?

That was not my intention. I dont want copy a name from Talisman

Tribal is still a term from the Tattoo arts and embedded Traibal - meens that the "Tribal" is emmbedded from celtic symbols

so i´m sure that the term "Tribal" is not copyright by Talisman

and it should not be an allusion to anyone

I don't mean to accuse you of anything. I'm just telling you the first thought that came to my mind when I saw the thread. My FIRST thought was Talisman case. That's all I wanted to communicate... what the name brought to my mind.
 
Talisman does not own the word "tribal" nor "tribal" designs. This is like saying you can't say "stupid" cause so and so already uses it... That case in no way reminds me of Talismans "tribal" case :rolleyes: Except it has handles and pockets like 99% of all other cases out there.

Man this case looks great. I keep seeing all these awesome cases I'd love to own .. gotta pay for quality though.. good work.
 
I have to hand it to the maker, from the chalk box pocket to the embedded cue holder, the man is innovative and a master craftsman. His cases are unique and the name he has given this case is appropriate, reflecting his tooling design. Some claim to be on the cutting edge of case making, this guy lets his cases do the talking.

Why do you need to trigger negative comments anytime you don't like something you see on here?
"Tribal" is not registered or trade marketed...
You need to be a more positive guy man...
Instead of of complimented the guy you just get on his case because of the "Tribal" name.
Tribal can be used anytime the theme of the case is a bit more rustic or has some tooling that reminds some "tribal" themes.
Let's give this guy our thumbs up...
Like the addition of the cue holder, that is super cool.
Keep it going my friend and let's put out more "Tribal" cases.

Jim is right about the use of the word "Tribal" to name you case. It could tend to make someone think of Talisman when hearing the word in association with a cue case.

That said one cannot copyright a common word. Chevy can make a "Dart" and Dodge can make a "Dart" model car. They ususally try to avoid choosing names for their models to avoid consumer confusion though.

In this case as a one-off thing it's no big deal as the likelihood of confusion, and in fact the "name" is likely to be in rare use anyway.

It is different however when someone chooses a business name that is the same as the model another company is using.

Our company is called Sterling Gaming. The sister company which existed before is called Sterling Services. So the name Sterling was kept for the billiard supply company. Unbekownst to the owner at the time there was a billiard table manufacturer who made a table model called the Sterling. So now once in a while we will get a call from someone wanting to buy a Sterling table. We just point them in the right direction. If the product line and the other business' products are the same however that can cause complications and lead to a legal issue involving consumer confusion and goodwill.

For example I wouldn't get very far if I started a company making pool tables called Gold Crown Tables. But a pool room called Gold Crown Billiards is perfectly ok.

A couple years ago I named one of my cases the "Hybrid". It was unknown to me at the time, or should I say I had known it but it didn't enter my thoughts when coming up with the name, that Jim Murnak has a line called "Hybrid" cases. Along these same lines someone complained that they thought I was "copying" Jim by choosing the name. I wasn't but I changed the name to the "Rolls Royce" and it's proved to be the better name many times over.

Anyway, I digress....beautiful case Wolfgang. I am going to be stealing some of your gadget ideas someday and I hope that I can do them as well as you have done them.

i know what you meen, but i´m still thinking, that the term "Tribal" reminds me not as Talisman cases. Tribal is for me a term of Tattoo arts and I think that I am not alone.

Anyway, if you want copy some of my gadgets, i have no porblems with that, we all have no copyright on our ideas, and i like the way as you handle the copyterms to pay tribute to the owner of the ideas. So feel free to do them.

Not that you see it as reminding you of Talisman. When two companies use descriptions that are similar for similar items then it can cause confusion.

Talisman makes a cue case model they call "Tribal"

You make a cue case model you call "Tribal".

Someone like Jim who knows about Talisman's Tribal sees your headline and thinks immediately of the Talisman cases. It's not like you are ripping off Talisman by naming one of your cases "Tribal". It's just a coincidence.

It's not a big deal just letting you know where he was coming from.

I named one of my Instroke lines the "Cowboy" series and now every copycat out there calls theirs a "Cowboy" model as well. That's a deliberate ripoff.

Anyway it's all good. I will certainly give you credit when I use any of your ideas.
