I have a client that is asking to have his nickname added to his cue. So my question is to those that do engraving, what type of machine do you use? I would like to start engraving my name into my cues as well. So I am looking for options.
 
Was using a Pano to do my engraving. Then started using small CNC that had 4th axis to do. Uses the 4th or "A" axis instead of "Y" and turns the cue during the engraving so you can go around the cue.
 
I use Hightower's pano. I took a template blank to a local machine shop and they put my logo in it. I will say that to use the smaller end mills for engraving I have found that the runout of your spindle is very important.

Another option for your task is a waterslide.

+1 for waterslide decals for this purpose. Put them on top of an epoxy layer or between coats. If you want to sell the cue without the name, simply sand it off.
 
Not that you would do it but, a couple of years ago, they were engraving names into cues in Vegas.

My opinion is or was that they looked ok as far as the actual finished product was concerned but still looked kind of Cheeseoid.

Trophy shops have computer engravers. I believe that I looked at prices on the Net and on EBay. They are affordable but you yourself have to look at the product and see if that is what you want.

I mean, just because I didn't particularly like the one that I saw doesn't mean that you can't do them nicely or that they can't be done to everyones satisfaction.

You could do the engraving and fill them with colored epoxy or how ever you wanted to fill them. That may turn out decent.
