All of the Ernie Martinez cues I have played with that have that stainless steel pin have been great players.
I collect older Ernie Martinez cues, and this cue looks to have been made sometime between 2000 and 2003 or so.
I have a wrapless 6-pointer from this same vintage that plays so good it's even a little shocking to some people.
This one is not a cue from the new shop, and not one of what I consider the older vintage cues that had a longer, rounded pin, with the date & number on the base of it.
One thing I like about the EM cues with the numbered pins is the connection locks in after the first 1 1/2-turns, and it is kind of a semi-piloted 3/8-12 joint with a very lively hit.
He makes everything himself, even molding the octagon rubber bumpers that you see on some of his 90's vintage cues.
In this market it hard to value, but there is something special about the older Ernie Martinez cues.
He does have his old taper bar back, so whoever gets this cue could get a new identical shaft made for a reasonable price.
