martinez cue

id say that price is fair but it only has one shaft. it also would depend on whether or not this cue is older or not. he did his best work about 10 years ago and just started up again about 3 years ago. hope this helps you out.

Go to the top and hit the seach button, go to advanced seach, put in Ernie Martinez or variations. Then for other options search For Sale section and Threads only. This should give you some of the info you are looking for.

Hit this link and it will give you the titles with Ernie Martinez in the for sale section.

After trying that link I found out that the link containing search results does not repeat after the browser is closed.

Sorry about that.

The link will no longer work. Each search result are given unique identifier but the results are purged after a period of time.

Best to search for "Martinez" or "Ernie Martinez" in the title for Wanted section of the forum.

I know a guy that is trying to sell this cue on ebay. Can anyone give me some information on it. He has it on ebay right now because he has not used azb before. Here is a link to it http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=ernie+martinez&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_odkw=ernie&_osacat=0
Right before Ernie took a leave of absence back in 2002, his cues had an octagon or hexagon cut rubber bumper, and the joint screw was beveled at the tip into a pentagon, hex, or octagon point. I just don't remember which it was. He was doing both of these for a little while. The rubber bumper on this cue looks older and I can't tell if if the joint screw is bevel cut. This very well could be one of Ernie's earlier cues and if it is... they were considered some of the best playing cues on the market. However, since those days, there have been many cuemakers rise through the ranks that can claim similar.

In this economy, $800 for that cue would be absolute top one would pay for that cue and that would only be after they had a chance to play with it in person and decided it was worth it.

If I had $800 to spend on a cue, I would be looking closer to home here on AZB.

I don't know much about Ernie's cues but I feel the same. I seen a nice Gilbert for $800. and there seem to be some other nice deals for a little more or less.

All of the Ernie Martinez cues I have played with that have that stainless steel pin have been great players.
I collect older Ernie Martinez cues, and this cue looks to have been made sometime between 2000 and 2003 or so.
I have a wrapless 6-pointer from this same vintage that plays so good it's even a little shocking to some people.

This one is not a cue from the new shop, and not one of what I consider the older vintage cues that had a longer, rounded pin, with the date & number on the base of it.
One thing I like about the EM cues with the numbered pins is the connection locks in after the first 1 1/2-turns, and it is kind of a semi-piloted 3/8-12 joint with a very lively hit.
He makes everything himself, even molding the octagon rubber bumpers that you see on some of his 90's vintage cues.

In this market it hard to value, but there is something special about the older Ernie Martinez cues.
He does have his old taper bar back, so whoever gets this cue could get a new identical shaft made for a reasonable price.
