ESPN2 Tonight at 7pm: 3 Cushion Grandmaster featuring Sayginer, Massey, Yow

I always thought three-cushion billiards was a cool game. The only reason I played more pool than three-cushion was that?s where the money was. Where I was from in NY, most only played three-cushion for time and a few dollars and maybe some expresso. I have played for some decent money, but those games were hard to come by.

When I took over my dad?s 8-table poolroom on Long Island in 1966, the first thing I did was replace one of the 8 nine-foot pool tables with a 6x12 billiard table. The customers screamed and hollered like stuck pigs when they heard I was taking one of the pool tables out. I didn?t care, if was going to be trapped in the room for 12 hours a day 7 days a week...I was going to have a Billiard table. Guess what? It went over big.

I think you would have a better chance of getting Three Cushion Billiards on TV than pool, only because gambling isn?t connected to it. It?s really a great game to play or watch good players. Johnnyt

Great, great show....never seen anything like that before....

Eric, incredible effort....you showed major talent, and also played well to the audience....good showmanship....

Bob, kewl to see you on the tube.....when they had the introductions and I heard your name, I thought, "hey, there's that guy whom always corrects the wrong info from my posts" :D Was it just me, or did Mitch seem to cut you off when you were providing analysis

Semih is amazing, just plain good TV.....he, like Eric and Massey, has a ton of personality.....the three of them made both great shots and played to the crowd....hope we see more of this...
I agree! A GREAT SHOW!!!!! Congrats Eric! Regards, Kennyratt

This show knocked my socks off

I had the pleasure of being at the Riv for the taping and,at the time, I had a feeling this was going to be a hit. Watching it on TV yesterday confirmed those feelings. As someone had mentioned before, some personality came through and made the show real entertaining.

Enjoy every minutes of both events, and just think both Yow and Massey was using A Dieckman Masse Cue[Shameful plug]. But serious here a contact link to Espn so we can let them know our feeling. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?page=contact/espntv

Very interesting stuff with lots of amazing shots. I tivo'd it in high def.

Thank you for the link to espn2. I just sent them some feedback on their programming and hope they continue.

Eric you did a fantastic job. It was cruel that that shot you jumped off the rail didn't go on your last attempt. Such a great effort.

I think the commentators dogged it when they had an opportunity to tell your story. They call you the Preacher but they don't go into detail about that you are an ACTUAL Minister? Or how about you being a law student? Possibly mention after you decided to go pro in artistic billiards you had a devastating motorcycle wreck that you recovered from and came back to win the Masse world championship... And of course Mike Massey has an amazing story as well. I don't know much about Semih but I'm sure he has a story as well.

We talk about pool/billiards not catching the publics eye but our mediator in the form of Mitch Laurence can't take his eyes off the script that he has read for the last 10+ years and step outside the box!

I watched it again so I could rewind some of those shots. Awesome stuff.

I agree, the commentating left a little to be desired but certainly a successful show.

I feel ya buddy, but I can't complain a bit! My background story works wonders for my exhibition "Trick Shot Madness" though. I share with others that I have a Calling, a Career, and a Craft - the ministry, as an attorney, and artistic pool. The Lord has blessed me and I praise Him for providing the manner in which I can share it with the world. I pray that more opportunities present themselves and that He will do unbelievably great things through me.

Thanks again for the support.

Just to add to what everyone else is saying.....great event and I really enjoyed it. I was at my dad's when it aired and we caught a few minutes. He was amazed. When I got home and watched my DVR'd copy, my wife was equally amazed and wanted to watch both shows. Congrats to Eric, Semih, and Mike for a great job and incredible first-impression for 3C on ESPN.

I attended a Carom Corner (?) tour event at Chris' Billiards in Chicago several years ago. I went during the week to watch the early round-robin rounds, prior to the "big guns" being seeded in for the weekend. It was my first time watching 3C and I really enjoyed it. I watched Efren, Corey, and Mika play down at the DCC this past January, which was interesting as well. I would be very interested in watching more if it were televised here in the U.S.

If I could sum up 3C in one word: creative.

Eric, glad to see you post again.

I noticed sometime Massey, Sayginer, and yourself were looking at a pc screen, were everyone using cuetable diagrams of their shots? Which I thought was cool.

Great observation. We had the great oppotunity and pleasure to work with ESPN, the celebrity judges and all the players (Semih, Mike, Eric... All grrrreat guys :) ) in this show. We did the posters for all events and our 3cCueTable really had made things a lot easier for everyone. We are working to improve parts of CueTable software so it can be "TV" friendly in the future... Here are the layouts which were used at the show. (check post 2, 3, 4, 5)

If you enjoyed the show and have interests to see more 3C, you are in luck.

Check out Sang Lee International Open 2007 that is about to happen the whole next week. A lot of the top players around the world will be there competing for the prestige award in a clean and friendly setting. CueTable is doing a small part in helping this event again, will let you know more as the event goes.

ouch!

I hate to admit it but after waiting to see this for months I missed it. The eastern vs central time thing and I got hung up a little late at my shop completing a job.

Any idea if and when this will be rebroadcast?

Hu

Cuetable, I like the PC idea a lot better than seeing players thumb throught a book. I know you will be doing some more diagrams at SL Tournament. Hope you also add a few pictures to you web of the event.

ShootingArts, The event probably will be retelevised maybe Ira Lee can let us know after the SlTournament. Maybe someone who tape it can make a copy to send you- only a thought.
