European Championships

This is not good for family or productivity. I'm watching 3 different tables all with perfect stream and the live scoring page. Thank god corvette is probably out golfing. Darren lost 8-6

In the first match of the 32cup, our Finnish pride and former 8-ball European finalist Aki Heiskanen beat Ralf Souquet 8-1 !!! Watch out for him...:cool:
 
Dimitri Jungo perfomance

Dimitri Jungo is doing an incredible job too.:thumbup:

After winning the straight pool european title, beating 2 world champions of the disciplin in the semi (Oliver Ortmann, 2007) and in the final (Niels Feijen, 2008), he just qualified for the 8 ball last 16 round beating Tony Drago 8-7 on the TV table. That done he won his 12th match in a row. In fact, he is undefeated from the start of the competition. Good Job !

He will now face Oliver Ortmann in the last 16, who has a revenge to take from the straight pool semis :wink:

Yeah, Jungo is a former junior 9-ball World Champion, then got carried away with a relationship and quit playing international pool for years. He's making a sort of a comeback during the last couple of years and now playing really well. A very good player!
 
Here are the results for last 32. Couple of surprises there, an Austrian young gun and last years junion European Champion (or finalist) Maxi Lechner beat Chamat 8-7. Another rising young gun from Estonia Denis Grabe beat Földes 8-7 and Sweden's Jan Lundell (a former European champion from 1991 or something) beat Nick v/d Berg 8-7 after putting Niels Feijen out from the tournament yesterday 8-5. Go Heiskanen!!

Mikko, I think I ran across a name, sounds like Arabian, playing under Finland banner. Do you know the guy, and how did he manage to qualify for the national team?

Yes, in fact there is a lot of good players that only play at a national level. The EC is the occasion to put them under the light. That's why this competition is very exciting IMO.:thumbup:

Yeah, Abbas Al-Marayati is a 100% Finn but has a peculiar name, I think his family is from another country but don't know which... And he has qualified by playing extremely well in Finnish rankings, very solid performer and one the most consistent players here in Finland. We do have a wide range of players here who can compete in the EPC.

Yeah, I guess Jungo is in the zone. He has all the confidence in the world right now... Not bad for Aki though, twice 5th already this year. Watch out for him! :)
