Hi all, did some simple arithmetic and this is the current top 10 after the Deurne City Classic held over the weekend in Deurne, Netherlands. I am making two assumptions.

1. That the points system is the same as the previous events.
2. It was only the 9 ball event that counted.

If this is the case then we now have:

1. Jayson Shaw 118
2. Mark Gray 111
3. Ralf Souquet 94
4. Niels Feijen 93
5. Nik Ekonomopoulos 86
6. Mario He 65
7. Imran Majid 60
8. Ivo Aarts 54
9. Mika Immonen 53
10.Mieszko Fortunski 50

Yeah, Deurne was a Level 3 event whereas the other events played so far were Level 2.

I think the top 5 now are:

1. M. Gray, 98 points
2. J. Shaw, 96
3. R. Souquet, 85
4. N. Ekonomopoulos, 82
5. N. Feijen, 75

I like that lineup besides the fact I'm hoping US will pull it out but to me Neil's n Souquet r as consistent as robots shaw is unbelievable especially as of late n nikos n mark grey are awesome 9 ball players

Really hoping Jayson and Niels get in the top 3 as it improves the options. Obviously Darren will be a pick if he doesn't get in automatically. I can't see any change in fortunes this time around, Europe just too strong.

Shaw won the Bergen Open (Norway) event this weekend, beating Souquet at hill/hill in the finals. So Shaw is now in first place. I don't yet have all the other results.

Why are Mika and Thorsten listed as European players? One lives in New York, and the other in Florida.

Because they are from Finland and Germany. And just like Darren Appleton and Jayson Shaw who also live in the US, they are European.

Is Andrea Pirlo no longer Italian because he lives and plays football in the States?

So who will be eliminated on the team from last year by what seems like an inevitable Jayson Shaw making the grade?

My guess is Albin O or Karl Boyes are out if they don't make a run on points.

What do you think?

Either way, this might be Europe's strongest team ever in December.

I think Albin and Nick will be out, with Ralf and Jayson taking their places.

Depends who is top 3 at the end of the season, but if they are not in the top 3, then I cannot see Europe not making Daz and Niels their 2 picks.

Here is the completed draw, usual suspects in the last 8.

Thanks for that. So Shaw is German now!?!

Looks to me like the current top 10, after 5 events with 8 yet to be played, are as follows:

1. Jayson Shaw, 124 points
2. Mark Gray, 112
3. Ralf Souquet, 107
4. Nikos Ekonomopoulos, 102
5. Niels Feijen, 92
6. Imran Majid, 67
7. Mario He, 65
8. Mika Immonen, 58
9. Ivo Aarts, 53
10. Mieszko Fortunski, 50

LOL, the 2013 Team Europe of Appleton, Souquet, Feijen, Immonen and Boyes had four guys that own a World 9-ball championship and even Boyes had won a bronze in the 2012 World Championship. Every Team Europe going forward will have to be measured against that one, which massacred team USA by 11-2.
